"Are you free right now?"
"Depends," Audraya smirked, "I hope you're not asking me on a date."
"Only in your dreams."
She scoffed. She moved over to her suitcase and threw her clothes into it.
"I'm actually packing," she informed, "I intend to visit the rest of my family, wherever they may be."
"Oh great," he mumbled, "As much as I would love that...I need your help."
"Those words get tiring to hear."
She heard a small strain in his voice and listened closely for the winces of pain that came through the phone. She stopped packing and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Why do you sound hurt?" she questioned.
"I'll explain when you get here," he answered vaguely, "Just find me. I'm in the woods on the edge of town. You'll see my car by the road and just keep going straight until you see a trailer."
He hung up promptly. She huffed and debated whether or not to go. But her moral conscience overpowered her and she decided to help.
As she walked out the door, she picked up a different pair of boots and a jacket.
"I am not getting my best shoes muddied up for Damon Salvatore."
She slipped them on and strolled out to the street; she decided on walking instead of driving since she was close enough to where Damon explained he was. Besides, she needed the fresh air and she wanted to stretch out her legs.
She used her vampire speed to run down the streets. It didn't take her long to find Damon's vintage car parked on a dormant road. She stopped her run and cautiously walked through the woods.
She saw a beaten down path of dirt and leaves that must've been left by whoever had visited there. She followed the path until a small trailer came into sight.
Other than the small campsite made, the area seemed abandoned. The silence made her think that whatever she had walked into was either a trap or a prank.
Nevertheless, she moved closer to the trailer and knocked on the door, "Damon?"
"In here!"
She pulled the door open and stepped inside. As she saw Damon, she spotted the arrow in his body and the wire it connected to. She followed the wire and saw the bomb that was attached to it. She quickly realized that he needed her help because he couldn't move without getting blown up.
She laughed, "Oh look what we have here...is someone a little stuck?"
He rolled his eyes in exasperation and grumbled curses under his breath. He snapped at her, "Today is not the day, Mikaelson. Get me out."
"It's tied to a bomb," she stated matter of factly, "What do you want me to do?"
"Well you can't die so just pull it out and protect me while we run away."
She scoffed, "First of all, just because I can't die doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. And second, you could still get hurt or die."
She spotted a few knives sitting on a small table and she picked them out. She went around to his back where the tip of the arrow was stuck. She began to cut around his skin carefully in order to avoid hurting him more.
"Why didn't you call Stefan?" she mumbled, trying to keep him distracted.
"He's at school with Elena."
She scoffed, "And you're out here doing what exactly?"
"Chasing vampire hunters and other people who want to kill us."
"Sounds fun."
"Not really."
He winced as the tip of knife dug deeper into his skin. She uttered a small apology before moving on to a new topic.
"Did you resolve things with Elena?"
"No."
"You should."
"I didn't ask you to be here so that you could give me advice on relationships," he snapped, "All you need to know is that Elena and I are staying away from each other for the moment."
"You mean hiding from each other?" she corrected, "You're hiding from her by distracting yourself. For example, the other night with you and me-"
"A one time thing," he assured.
"And now you're hiding by coming out here and solving a different problem rather than the one you really want to solve."
He scoffed, "I'm not hiding. If anyone is, it's you. You've been all mysterious and secretive and it's all just a ploy to hide yourself."
It was her turn to scoff. At his statement, she dug the knife into his back a little harder. He winced and arched up but she kept him still.
"I don't hide myself. Everyone can see me...but people just simply choose to look away."
He stayed quiet as she made a final cut into his back. She attempted to lighten the mood again with a witty remark, "Besides, all that mystery and secrecy is just a part of my natural charm."
She set the knife down and moved to face him in the front. She gave no warning as she took the arrow and ripped it out of his chest. He suppressed a groan as she tossed the arrow to the side and made her way out the door. Damon followed after her once he had fixed his shirt.
As they walked back to his car, Audraya's phone rang. She saw that it was Rebekah and answered it immediately.
"They all hate me," the younger one cried.
Audraya was taken aback by the immediate cry that came from the other side of the call. Loud sobs overwhelmed her ears and she sighed.
"Alright, love, slow down," she calmed, "Take a deep breath and explain what happened."
Rebekah quickly inhaled and exhaled, "I tried to talk to Matt again and apologize but he just walked away. And I invited everyone to my party and they was just being so mean."
"Perhaps then you shouldn't have murdered Elena."
"She deserved it!" Rebekah defended.
She began to get upset that even her own sister was against her. Audraya assured her that she was on Rebekah's side and she tried to reason with her. But as they reached Damon's car, Rebekah's cries had only increased.
"They all hate me!"
"I'm sure that's not true," Audraya said warmly.
She looked up and saw Damon on the other side of the car as she opened her door.
He smirked and mouthed, "It's true."
She glared at him briefly before getting into her seat and shutting the door, "Relax, sister. It will take them time to forgive you. And if they don't, then try and make some new friends. Forget about Elena and Matt and just focus on starting over."
Rebekah reduced her cries to a sniffle. She mumbled a reluctant agreement before hanging up with only a brief thank you. Audraya sighed as she put her phone back in her pocket.
Damon looked over at her and smirked, "Teenage drama?"
"Never a dull day with Rebekah," she chuckled, "But she is my sister and I suppose I'll have to rip out a few hearts to make her happier, as big sisters do."
Damon's face fell in seriousness as he questioned if she was actually going to do that.
She caught his expression and nudged his side, "I'm kidding."
Damon relaxed only to tense back up as she shrugged casually,
"Sort of."
