Sorry it's been a billion years, I'm a senior in college and I've been occupied with making my thesis show (im a drawing major) and also since this fic is more plot and character heavy, it takes more planning

Anyways, it should start picking up once I get past some canon stuff before this au really branches off

Todoroki stood amongst his classmates as their homeroom teacher threatened about expelling whoever does the worst in this first training session.

Not that it would apply to Shoto, of course, he did make it in on recommendations after all.

And besides, better for the weak to be weeded out early so UA doesn't waste its time on low lives.

Some of his classmates seemed alarmed though, glancing and mumbling amongst their newly formed friendships. To even make acquaintances this early on in their hero career is a complete farce. Half of these people probably won't even make it to their second year, failing both written and physical tests. He glanced over at a tiny lewd classmate with purple spheres sticking out from his head. How the actual hell did that kid even get in here? And in class 1A of all places.

Whatever.

Todoroki shook his head and tried to focus his attention back on the teacher.

Though, it was difficult to pay attention because he knew how much this stuff was going to be a breeze. He's literally been training for this his whole life while it seems like some of these people only started working out yesterday.

At least now a few people were starting to show their skills.

Which...wow.....how can these people expect to be heroes when they perform so....averagely.  Or have a really bratty attitude like that spikey blonde guy. How is a person supposed to spark hope in victims of villains when they have such a mean looking face and bitchy demeanor? Of course, Shoto isn't one to talk. After all, he's here just to become a hero to expose the crimes of his father.

But he has a righteous reason. Obviously hero society has deep-rooted issues that it sweeps under the rug if it lets the number two hero marry a woman simply for her quirk and then create children for the sole purpose of being the number one hero. And that's not even getting into the fact that this man abused and/or neglected all of those kids he forced his wife to bear.

Shoto felt his chest tighten.

The only person he wants to be a hero for is his mother.

No matter if he's unbearable for her to look at, which he knows he is, he wants to show the world how awful Enji Todoroki is so she can be freed of that monster.

Even if that means teaming up with his murderer older brother.

Even if that means Shoto will be locked away for being an accomplice to a villain and tricking the hero system.

As long as his mother gets to walk free again without the fear of seeing her husband and youngest son.

"Todoroki Shoto." Shoto was suddenly snapped from his thoughts upon hearing his name called.

Oh yeah.

The quirk assessment tests.

"Throw the ball as far as you can." Aizawa instructed, handing over the ball.

Shoto immediately took it with his right hand.

He's also here to prove he can be the best without using his father's Hellfire.
