Chapter 10: Nature Rests For Now

Kali groaned in pain as she stood up, her body sore from hitting the ground. She growled annoyed but then a purple crystal popped out in front of her face glowing. "It's me Kali. I want you to come back so we can talk" Apachi's voice came up, the crystal glowing as he spoke and it transformed into a purple portal. Kali growled, wanting to follow them but she walked through it and the portal vanish.

Meanwhile back to the others...

Max turned around to check if everyone was ok and the first thing he noticed was Leena was awake. "Leena!" He said happy as he ran to her and hugged her tightly. Leena got startled but she relaxed and wrapped one arm around him, understanding he must've been scared. Max pulled back as he smiled at her relieved.

"Way to go big brother!" Koda said happily, jumping onto Max's shoulders. The lion rubbed his furry head, glad his brother was ok too. "You were pretty brave Koda. Saving me from Kali" Max told him proudly and Koda smiled big at him.

Leena looked behind her and her eyes bulged when she saw her ship all scratched and covered in leaves and bumps. "What happened to my ship?!" She yelled alarmed, grabbing her head and her face turned to rage. "Who did this?!" She demanded furiously as she spun around to look at everyone, her friends startled and intimidated by her anger.

"Well prince annoyed wanted to fly it" Adira said, pointing at Tazer. The fox glared at her, his ears flat. "No no no! Don't pin this on me! You're the one who stole it and flew off!" He told her angrily and stormed up to her with his tail puffing in anger and the two glared at eachother.

Leena cleared her throat and the two turned away form eachother to her, the lioness had her hands on her hips, glaring at them. "Both of you. Are fixing this mess" she told them sternly. Although they were her friends, she didn't like anyone messing with her ship. The fox and snow leopard glared at eachother again. "Fine!" They both said and Adira shoved past him to the ship.

Back at Apachi's hideout, the portal opened up and Kali walked out of it, the portal vanishing behind her. Remra had his arms crossed, smirking at her laughing tauntingly "Well down  Kali. You've already failed on your first mission. You even got defeated by a guardian" Remra taunted her and Kali growled at him.

"Actually Remra, Kali didn't fail" Apachi corrected him which surprised the remora and he turned around to look at the wolf, the young pup looking at his book, scrolling through his pages criss cross apple sauce. "Kali actually manage to lure a guardian out. To find the amulets, we first need to find the guardians" Apachi explained as he closed the book and turned to the tigress. "Well done Kali. Keep this up and the throne is all yours" Apachi told her as Kali smirked and bowed to him, smirking that she was one step closer to her goal. Remra growled annoyed.

Back to the heroes, Max and the professor started up the ship. "Alright Max. Ready for lift off" Higga told him and the ship was back up in the sky.

But what one knew was the knight was watching them below from a cliff. "So these are the ones that will defeat Apachi" a calm voice came up as a deer approached her, holding his bo staff, the amulet of the nature wrapped around it. "They've proven themselves skilled and caring" the knight told him but the deer frowned, still cautious of them. "They still have to prove to me that they are true masters of nature. Keep an eye on them" he told her before he walked away with the knight watching him.

Back to the friends, Max left the pilot room, leaving the professor in charge as he entered the main room where Leena was on one of the beds.

"So how are we doing?" She asked him as Max sat next to her. "We're almost at the village. I can't wait to see ma and pa again. They're gonna be so excited!" Max told her excited as Leena chuckled at him and put a hand on her hip. "So how's Koda doing? He's never been on a ship before" Max asked, curious on how his little brother was handling with flying.

"Great. He's jumping all over the place" she told him sarcastically, crossing her arms and Max burst out laughing, amused by his brother. But Leena's smirk fell as she looked, thinking about what happen. Max noticed and stopped laughing, looking at her with concern.

"Leena?" He asked her worried and she looked at her hand, remembering how it was illuminated in pink magic. She didn't understand how she did it. Max held her hand gently and she looked at him. "You're thinking about what happen aren't you?" He asked her and she nodded. "I've never done it before. So I have no idea how I did it" she told him worried and then her eyes widen in realization.

"And you know what else? When the guardian showed up, the knight from my dream was there. Watching us. And I felt a weird energy from her. It was kinda...familiar. I don't know how to explain it. And I don't know if it's good or not" she told him scared and afraid, pulling her hand away from and holding herself.

Max looked at her worried and sympathetic. He didn't really know what to say. He had known her for a long time and he had never seen her with magic powers before so he was trying to take it in too.

"Hey guys! We're here!" Twitch called out as the friends gathered around the window to look. They could see the village outside as the ship landed. Everyone got out excited while the lions walked put together. Max put a hand on Leena's shoulder and she looked at him.

"Leena I know you're scared. So am I" he told her worried but he smiled at her reassuringly. "But whatever it is, don't forget that you use that power to save my brother. Which means you can use it for good. We'll figure this out. Together" he told her confident and determined and Leena smiled at him, glad to have him by her side. "Thanks Max" she told him as the two fist bumped.

"Ma! Pa!" The two lions turn their heads to Koda's excited voice as he ran to his parents. The otters noticed Max and they smiled happy to see him. "Max! Welcome home!" Ma said as Max hugged her. "Hi ma" Max said happily. "Ma! Pa! You won't believe this. We saw the guardian again!" Koda told them excited while jumping.

Ma chuckled and looked at her lion son. "Again Max?" She asked him playfully and Max chuckled. But it did remind Leena something. "You know that reminds me..." she said calmly and...

"Ow!" Max yelled as she punched his shoulder, glaring at him. "You still didn't tell me how you met the guardian!" She shouted at him annoyed with her hands on her hip as Max looked at her nervously while his otter family chuckled at his problem. Max smiled sheepishly at her and rubbed the back of his mane "Well here's how it started..."
