4:05, twenty-five minutes for her to get there on time. What made this event different than the other ones? Simply, nothing. She just thought of this as the same importance as all the other ones: very important. It was only a few blocks down from her sensei's dojo, she had fast enough legs to run there.
"Don't worry Himiko, I'll make it in time!" Tenko tried to convince herself. 4:12, she was getting closer to the deadline. Himiko would be performing a special trick today, at least according to her website. Excuse me, she would be performing special magic; sawing a person from the audience in half. This was the first trick Tenko ever participated in, it was when they were both kids and Himiko only started to get into magic. Well, they're still kids even now, but you get the point. Ever since then, Tenko came to every single magic show Himiko had ever hosted.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's the time you've been waiting for. The magician Himiko Yumeno!" Tenko heard the speakers from the carnival roar. She looks at her watch again, 4:32. She was late. Tenko cursed under her breath and picked up her pace. She was so close, yet so far from seeing her "celebrity" crush, she was too busy daydreaming about Himiko that she forgot to pay for a ticket into the carnival and instead cut the line and went straight inside.
"I, the great mage, Himiko Yumeno, will be using my magic to saw a person in half!" Only a few people had cared to spend their time watching her, you could hear Tenko clapping loudly for Himiko. She was on a dollar store stage with a sparkly purple background, there was a red curtain pulled back to reveal Himiko and a box next to her big enough to fit a person. Two men were standing near the stage scratching their heads this wasn't the scheduled trick they thought.
"Is there anyone willing to volunteer?" Of course, Tenko shot her hand up yelling "Me! Me!" repeatedly.
"You, in the blue uniform, come up into the box." Tenko was normally too scared to participate in Himiko's magic, but this time, if she went in the box she could hide from the workers trying to make her pay for her ticket. Tenko scurried into the box and anticipated getting sawed in half. Himiko grabbed her chainsaw and-"Woah Woah Woah! You can't saw her in half! You didn't prepare the trick!" One of the men standing near Himiko stopped the show.
"I don't understand. I set up the box so the MAGIC is prepared."
"No no no no no, you're supposed to put another person inside to make it look like you saw them in half! This girl is the only one inside!" There were a few groans from the audience, the trick was completely ruined for them."But it's magic, I don't need to do that." Himiko groaned. Yeah! Himiko's right! She did this to me before and used real magic at that time! Her magic is definitely real! Don't listen to that degenerate male, he doesn't know what he's talking about! Tenko pouted inside her head.
"I don't want a lawsuit on my hands so you can either do the trick you told us you would do, or leave the park!"
"But it's maaaaagic. I'll show you myself." Himiko grabbed the chainsaw again, Tenko couldn't wait. A fluffy feeling filled up inside her, making it even harder containing herself from bursting."Stop right there!" Another man barged in. This man had the aura as if he held all the power in the world, but he only held the power to the carnival, he was the infamous manager of this place, Tenko could smell a greedy corporate man from miles away. She looked to her left and saw the other man with a stupid grin on his face, holding up a walkie talkie. He must have called the manager to take care of the situation.
"Why is everyone trying to ruin my magic?" Himiko whined.
"Yeah! Why are all you degenerate males trying to stop Himiko from doing her magic! I want her to saw me in half!" Himiko turned her head to blush.
"The trick violates our par-hey! You're the person who entered without paying!"
"Me? Come in w-without paying? You m-must have the wrong girl!" The boy with the dumb face stepped up."We never said the person who went in and didn't pay was female. How would you know if they were that gender if you weren't the one?"
"No! I saw the person run in!"
"Sorry, your bluff's over. Either pay or get out." The guy said in an affirmative voice.
"Ugh! All you males ruining all the fun! Why can't Himiko just do what she loves without anyone interfering!" Himiko looked down in shame.
"There are two options ma'am. Pay your ticket or get out of my establishment." The manager almost shouted. Tenko figured that Himiko's magic show wouldn't continue, so there was no point wasting her money. She stomped away with tears in her eyes.
