"Mm freshly baked cupcakes for my birthday? Thank you Mrs.Park." Jinhee thanked her housemaid before leaving with a box filled with home-made baked goods.

For a girl like Kim Jinhee, it was a perfect birthday in every sense. It was a beautiful summer's day in june, not too hot nor was it too cold. She had planned to take her girl friends out to karaoke and go for a swim in her swimming pool and then have a sleep over. She even wanted to give Yuhwa a chance. That's how much she was willing to spend her day perfectly without negativity.

On her way to school and class, everyone gave her birthday wishes. Some gifts lay on the ground next to her locker, stacked and waiting to be open by its receiver. Her heart jumped out of happiness, acknowledging the fact that she had so many people loving her and that she should be more than grateful.

"We meet at my place, six pm the latest." Jinhee chirped, handing her nemesis an invitation card she had made the night before. With one last look, the black headed girl ripped it with her own hands and dropped it to the ground, not paying attention to the gasps that came from others.

"Are you serious? Celebrating now huh? You must be so happy after killing her." Yuhwa spat, standing up to leave. She noticed Jeno, leaning against the door frame, watching her curiously. "Move."

The boy did as he was told. Yuhwa stormed past him, ignoring the school bell which signaled that it was time for the first lesson of the day.

"Tsk. She's so annoying." Jinhee muttered before going back to her seat.

As soon as the homeroom teacher had arrived, the class quietened down. He surveyed the class before questioning Jeno about Yuhwa's whereabout, which he had no clue of.

"I think she went to the bathroom." He lied. "She didn't look well."

Satisfied with his answer, the teacher went back to his desk, letting his students prepare for their next lesson.

As soon as lessons were over, Jaemin dragged Jeno away to his house and forced the poor boy to change into something more comfortable. He refused to answer any of Jeno's questions until they had arrived in an almost empty parking lot under an abandoned building.

"Why are we here?"

"We're having a car meet with some people we both already know." Jaemin answered, impatiently glancing at his wrist watch every five seconds to check the time.

"A car meet?" Jeno made a confused sound. "We took a bus for a car meet? You don't even own a car—"

"I do." Jaemin smirked, leading his friend to a corner of the parking lot. A brand new white Lamborghini Huracan came into their sight, ready to be used by its owner. "My baby, isn't she cute? She has some impressive engineering and can blast past 60mph in less than three seconds."

"Wow, impressive." Jeno eyed the car with newly found adoration. "But why aren't you using it out in the open?"

"I don't own a driver's license." Jaemin chuckled bitterly, running his fingers through his blue dyed hair. "Most of us don't."

"Us? Who are you referring to?"

"He means us." Donghyuck's voice echoed behind Jeno. The brunet wasn't alone. He had five other people behind him, some waving at Jeno while the others looked equally confused.

"Wait, why is this dude here?" A brown haired boy with blond highlights questioned. He seemed younger than the rest because Jeno had spotted him in the second floor multiple times, where the second years had their classes in. Beside him stood another boy, black hair as dark as coal while his intimidating brown orbs bore holes into Jeno's.

"Donghyuck suggested that we should let him join our team." Another dark haired man spoke. He looked no older than nineteen and had the face of a leader. "Hi, I'm Mark Lee, your soon to be captain."

Jeno glanced upwards, his mouth slightly opened. He fixed his eyes on Mark while creasing his eyebrows with a tensed face. "Huh?"

"Didn't Jaemin tell you why we're here?" Renjun asked, side eyeing at the mentioned person.

"Car meet?"

"Yes, you do know what it is right?" Renjun questioned again.

Jeno shook his head. "Roughly. I'd be glad if you could explain me."

"It's a gathering by car enthusiasts and street racers where we discuss about everything that has to do with our hobby." Renjun smiled softly. "Today we want to recruit you."

"Me?" Jeno was confused again. "Why?"

"Because I know you can drive...well." Donghyuck added. Being the only person who knew about his real past, Donghyuck found out about Jeno's addiction towards street racing at night by accident after visiting him last summer.

It was his way of coping, but he had never done any of that with a team. It was always him. Alone.

"So you're all street racers?"

"Yes, and the best I must add." Mark spoke proudly. "We are twenty two in total but I'm in charge of you high-schoolers. You can meet the rest once you've joined us and you will discover a whole another world after agreeing to participate with us."

"You make it sound like we're in some kind of a fantasy movie, Mark." The same brunet with blond highlights commented. "I'm Park Jisung by the way. I've seen you around for the past few days and figured out you must be the new transfer student in Jaemin's class."

"I'm Chenle." The boy next to him smiled, his scary demeanor disappearing as soon as his eyes turned into crescents, matching Jeno's.

"Nice to meet you Mark, Jisung and Chenle. I'm still not sure if I want to join though. My father wouldn't like it."

"You think we have our parents' approval?" Jaemin spoke after a long pause. "What we do could cost our lives so it's better if they don't know anything about it."

"Come on, cuz." Shaking his arm furiously, Donghyuck pleaded him to join. "What is life without a few risks?"

"Fine." Jeno sighed, earning a smile from his cousin right away.

Mark took a few steps closer and handed the new member a card, which had his name and his group name engraved on it, as if he had come prepared knowing that he was going to join.

"Welcome to NCT dream. You're officially a Neo now."
