I grinned evilly. Maybe the fact that she still thought she could beat me was funnier than her losing. Either way, I had the advantage. She still had a conscience, Jane still felt emotional. Emotions other than delight and malice were not good. She was still human. It made her weak. Now what would be dangerous is if she cut off all thoughts of her parents somehow. The only thing holding her back from being a 'monster.' I couldn't possibly afford to let that happen. But this makes me question myself. Why am I not killing her? Back there I could have easily pushed that knife into her heart. But I am yet to discover why I keep playing this same game. I pace through the woods. Puzzling, it is. I needed to prioritize what I was doing before it's too late. A rustling noise interrupted my thoughts. I froze and looked to where I heard the sound. I saw a tiny face peeping out of the bushes. I took out my knife. She wailed, showing herself. Covered in blood and her green eyes burning brightly, I was mesmerized. Her once pink dress was torn and dirty. In one hand the girl held a teddy band. She was a creepypasta, I could tell.
"Go away," I growled. She cried as I walked away.
"Help me!"
"Help yourself!"
"But, I'm lost!"
"Why should I help you?" She ran up to me and pulled my knife out of my pocket.
"Because I don't want to hurt you. But I will." She pointed it under my chin. I grabbed the knife and stowed it away in my pocket.
"Fine, just...don't take my knife again. Or I will chop you up into tiny little pieces." She scoffed. "And your bear too." The corners of her lips turned down.
"Oke-doke! Can you help me find shelter?" I nodded.
"The mansion."
"Mansion?" Her eyes seemed to sparkle in excitement.
"Yeah. Slenderman's mansion." We continued to walk. She tugged on my shirt sleeve.
"Who's he?"
"Ah, well he's kinda tall and white. He's the formal type of guy. No face." I scratched my head. She gasped, making me jump a little.
"No face?! That's creepy!" I laughed in amusement. She obviously didn't get what was so funny as she gave me an exasperated look.
"Yea, but I have a feeling you'll be good friends." She shook her head stubbornly.
"I'm Sally." she said.
"Ok."
"Well?" she prompted.
"What?" I left an empty response.
"What's your name?" she said, annoyed.
"Jeff."
"Nice to meet 'cha Jeff." Sally smiled at me. I gave her a cold stare.
"Sure." The mansion came into view and Sally ran ahead and right up to the door.
"Hurry up!" She giggled, bouncing up and down. I casually walked up to her and opened the door for her. Sally went right in and made a beeline for the couch. She flopped down face first into the fluffy cushions. BEN walked in, his arms full of junk food snacks.
"Who's this," he asked, his mouth full of food.
"Take her off my hands, will ya? I'm kinda busy." BEN glanced at Sally, who was currently jumping on the couch.
"Busy skulking, you mean. Sure. I guess I'd better take her to the big boss." He set the snacks down on an end table and sat down next to Sally.
"Hello, I'm BEN. Who are you?" Sally immediately smiled.
"Sally. Hiya BEN!" BEN laughed at her suddenness.
"Come on, I'll take you to Slenderman...." I walked away from them and out the door. Someone pulled on my arm.
"Your time is up." I turned around.
"What do you want Natalie?" She smirked.
"Why are you so moody?"
"I'm not, leave me alone."
"Can we talk? Or are you busy being Mr.Grumps?" I crossed my arms.
"What? I'm kind of busy, so make it quick." She motioned for me to follow her inside. We walked inside in her room. She made me sit on her bed. "What is it?" I said, sighing. Natalie sat down next to me, silent.
"I dunno."
"Well that's pointless." Natalie shoved me.
"What did I do?" I said puzzled. She laughed.
"God, Jeff, you are hopeless. We are friends right?" She looked serious. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Yea, I'm not the best at friends, but you could say so. Why?" I was a little confused right now as to where this conversation was going. Natalie seemed to be troubled.
"Ok," Natalie smiled and got up, "you can leave now. Thanks." I shook my head.
"I'm so confused right now."
"I'm sorry."
"What?"
"Never mind."
"Can you tell me what's going on?" She leaned in and put her lips to mine. My eyes widened. She pulled away softly, leaving a weird sensation on my lips.
"Can you leave?" Natalie crossed her arms and put her back to me. In a daze, I got up silently and left. What in the literal hell just happened? I frowned. That was definitely not like Natalie. Hopefully this was just a phase. BEN was walking by and stopped to stare at me.
"You ok? Did something happen?"
"Girls are so confusing." BEN laughed and raised an eyebrow.
"Dude, I never thought I would hear you say that. Tell me what happened."
"Natalie kissed me. It was weird." BEN didn't look surprised.
"Okay. Does this mean you don't like her back?"
"She likes me? Wait, you know about this?"
"Natalie regularly asks me for advice. You must be stupid if you haven't noticed." Why wasn't I told this earlier?
"How would I know she liked me? I thought we were just friends."
"Who are you guys talking about?" Jane appeared out of nowhere.
"Shit! None of your business." Jane frowned.
"What's this about,"she asked BEN, ignoring me.
"Natalie. She kissed him and he's freaking out." He replied
"Natalie? Wow. I did not expect that." Jane looked surprised. I crossed my arms.
"Why would you care anyways? It's not like we're friends."
"Ah I forgot,"she said,"that every time I come near you that we must fight to the death. Be a little realistic here."
"You're a fucking weirdo. It's like this is some screwed up dream."
"I've tried so many times to wake up. Trust me, it doesn't work."
"When did you become the life expert?" I snarled at her. Jane returned a look of ferociousness.
"Screw you, I'm outta here." I growled.
"This doesn't make any fucking sense." BEN, who seemed to have disappeared in my and Jane's argument, shrugged his shoulders.
"Go talk to Natalie."
"But-"
"Do it." BEN walked away. I turned towards Natalie's door and took a big breath. Exhaling, I opened the door. Natalie was looking out the window. She turned around. I could see she was nervous.
"I told you to leave." She tried her best to look confident. I leaned against the doorway casually.
"Could you tell me what happened just a minute ago."
"Are you that freaking dense? What the hell do you think happened?" She attacked me with her words.
"Uh, I think I have a right to know why you did that."
"You're such an asshole!" Natalie yelled. I could see a few tears coming on. She ran up and kissed me. This time hard, violently. I let her wrap her arms around my neck, and in return I wrapped mine around her waist, pulling her closer. I felt strange. I wanted to keep kissing her. I don't know if I liked Natalie or not, but I liked this. She pulled her head back, me and her both gasping for air. Our lips met again, she allowed my tongue down her throat. She ran her hands through my hair. We walked over to the bed and made out. She pulled at the ends of my hoodie. I whipped that and my shirt off fast. I went to take off her shirt but she put her hands on my bare chest, stopping me.
"I'm sorry, I know you probably don't like me." She started to cry. All I could do was hover over her, feeling like shit because I knew I didn't replicate her feelings. She sat up and I did as well. Natalie put her head in her hands. "I can't force you to do this." I remained on the bed.
"I like you. I like kissing you." I said, looking over at Natalie. She wasn't paying attention, she seemed to be looking past me. I turned around. Jane was in the doorway, looking surprised. For an odd reason I felt bothered by her presence. Like I was doing something wrong that she shouldn't know about. Jane silently turned away and walked out of sight.
"Shit, what did I do wrong now?" Natalie stared at me, her gaze suddenly cold.
"That bitch..."she murmured silently.
"What...why?" It didn't seem to make sense at all. These last fifteen minutes didn't make sense at all, to be honest. Natalie pulled me back to her and kissed me again. Confused, I tried to go along with it. We continued where we left off. I took off her shirt and reached for her bra. Her eye was drooping, I could tell she was tired. And like that, Natalie was asleep. I got off of her and put on my shirt and hoodie. I covered her in a blanket and left the room, shutting her door softly. I went up to the roof of the mansion, where I expected Jane to be. I had no idea at all why Jane was standing in that doorway. Jane was sitting on the stone fence that bordered the rooftop, her fleeting hanging in the air. I sat next to her.
"Hello." I said.
"Hello?" She looked over at me, a little confused.
"You're pissed at me, and this time I have no idea why."
"Do you care if I'm mad?"
"No." I crossed my arms, my face felt red, and for no reason whatsoever. It was like she caught me doing something shameful.
"You sure? You don't seem so." She seemed to be amused. I frowned at Jane. She suddenly stopped smiling. "I guess it's not time to joke around. So you and Natalie are serious, huh?"
"I dunno." Jane studied her black painted nails.
"Not so easy? Why? Shouldn't you like her?"
"I think you're forgetting I'm a psychopath."
"Not really, if you think about it. Only portrayed as one by society."
"So you don't think I'm crazy?" Jane pondered for a minute.
"Well, yes. I think you're crazy for murdering my parents along with a countless number of innocent people. But on a personal, social level, maybe not so much. So I can rule out that sorry excuse you made. Natalie sure doesn't think you're crazy. And considering you made out with her, and you almost got her shirt off, I'm confused as to how you can't like her back."
"I don't know, maybe I just liked kissing her!" I shot at her. Jane frowned.
"Ah, you are physically attracted to her. Makes a little more sense now."
"Just stop it."
"Hmph. I guess we'll always be like this." She murmured.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"If I'm smart, I won't say anything about it."
I put both my feet back on the roof and walked away.
"Jeff?"
"What?"
"Do you wanna know what I think of you?"
