Dear Diary,

It would have been the same, lousy day for me, had it not been for the special moment. I'm so excited to share it with you! Let me tell you.

I seldom talk to girls. It's because of the fear that I might not be able to keep the conversation going, and even if I did, I may sound weird. To be on the safe side, I keep mum.

I was completing my homework in the free period. The boys were having a great time teasing, laughing and throwing harmless paper bombs at each other. The girls were talking about particularly nothing.

I generally complete homeworks at night, but today wasn't the ordinary homework. I had to write an essay on my friends. The reason is English. I wish I could draw monkeys on the entire page. After all, that's the reality.

All of a sudden, the noise I was so accustomed to, vanished. There was no teacher in the class. I looked up. I found a girl standing by the door.

"Students!" Ms Sajida entered. "Silence please!"

The boys now fell silent.

"Meet Arifa," Ms Sajida said, "your new classmate."

Everyone welcomed her with warm regards. I smiled at her. She smiled back. What deer-like eyes! What a pretty smile!

The girls welcomed her, and gave her a seat.

For the first time in my life, I felt like talking to a girl. I got up, but then sat down. I wasn't bold enough. I'd speak confidently when there was no one around.

Arifa is beautiful. Her smile popped up in my mind whenever I closed my eyes. It's not that she's beautiful, but because she has an angelic nature. Her voice is like a nightingale. At the end of the last period, she approached me and asked me my name. I was completely speechless. She frankly asked.

"H-h" I stuttered. "Hamid...nice to meet you Arifa."

She didn't reply. She smiled.
