iii. VISITS FROM A MILF

saturday, december 12th

IT WAS THREE PM WHEN OPHELIA KLINE ARRIVED, both of her children trailing behind her.

  Many thought Lia looked much too young to have children both in their late twenties, but she took it as a compliment and went on with her day.

  "Where's Cassidy?" Rosie asked from the porch as the Kline family approached.

  "With Rora," Herc Kline answered. While he technically lived with Rosie, Aurora, and West, he barely spent any time at their home.

  "Hey, Lia," West smirked. He was standing behind Rosie, leaning in the doorway.

  "Drop it, West," she told him, not even bothering to look in his direction. Ophelia Kline was one of those "hot moms."

  West called her a MILF in front of Herc once. That went about as well as you think it would.

  "I'm guessing the apartment fell through," Rosie whispered to Herc once Lia and Venus had passed through the door and were out of earshot.

  He gulped and nodded. "Yeah, and my mom's pissed."

  West crossed his arms over his chest, the smirk on his face still present. "Well, Cass and Venus can stay here for a bit if it means we get to see more of Lia."

  "Shut up, man." Herc shoved him out of the way and fully stepped inside the house.

  "Awsten!" Ophelia gasped when she saw him sitting on the couch. "I didn't know you were in town."

  "Lia," he smiled, getting up. "Yeah, I just got here this morning."

  She pulled him in for a hug and said, "It's so good to see you." She pulled away but held him in place by his shoulders. "How is everyone? Your parents? The band?"

  "We're good, yeah, really good," he nodded.

  "So what are you doing back?" Lia asked as Rosie, Herc, and West came into the living room.

  "Just needed a break from LA," Awsten explained. "That...and I missed my friends."

  Rosie Soap and Awsten Knight met in August of 2011. He was Rosie's first friend in Texas.

  Then, she met Aurora; And then West; And then Herc. And then Awsten met Aurora; And then West; And then Herc. Their two friend groups merged and it was all because of Rosie.

  Some days, Rosie wishes she would've ignored Luke and just went straight to her dorm. If she had ignored her brother, she wouldn't be in this awkward mess with Awsten Knight nine years later.

  "It's awfully quiet in here, jeez," Lia said, fully breaking away from Awsten's embrace. "Heracles, don't you four have any music?"

  Ophelia Kline was the only person on the planet allowed to call him Heracles. The only reason he let her was because she birthed him.

  "Yeah, there's some CDs over there." He pointed. "Vinyls too."

  Lia crouched down to look through the box of CDs, and Herc had to physically cover West's eyes.

  "Rosie, what happened to your 'Teenage Dream' CD?" Ophelia asked. "I thought you had a physical copy." She paused. "Yeah, yeah, you definitely do. We listened to it at Herc's birthday party. His 20th." She paused again. "I remember because he told us to turn it off, but he knew every word to 'Last Friday Night'."

  "Mom," Herc whisper shouted.

  Venus, who was sitting in the armchair, had to cover her face to hide her laughter.

  "Oh, God, I lost that years ago," Rosie explained. "Just vanished out of the apartment one day. Don't know where it went."

  Awsten's mouth went dry at the mention of the album. He knew where Rosie's CD was. He had it — he stole it. It was back in LA, at his apartment.

  It was a funny story actually, but not one he wanted to tell right now.

  Lia ended up putting on Herc's copy of One Direction's, 'Up All Night.' It was Herc's copy, but it was out in the living room so guests didn't know it was his.

  It was a flawed logic, but no one fought him on it.

  As 'What Makes You Beautiful' began to play, Lia asked, "Is it alright if Venus stays here? It'll only be for a week, maybe two."

  "Of course," West answered. "We've got an air mattress and a couch."

  Venus Kline, who had been awfully quiet, finally spoke up. "I hope you're making Awsten sleep on the couch."

  "Sorry, baby, I'm a big famous band guy." He shot her a goofy grin. "I called dibs on that air mattress months ago."

  "Only the best for Mr. Famous-Money-Maker," West nodded, patting Awsten on the back.

  "Exactly."

  Venus rolled her eyes.

  She was 25 years old, but still had the mannerisms of a 16-year-old. Which, coincidentally, was the age she was when Rosie and Awsten met her.

  "What about Cass?" Venus asked.

  As if on cue, the front door opened. Aurora and Cassidy Pine stepped inside, each carrying about four or five backpacks.

  "We're back," Aurora sighed.

  If Venus didn't have a place to stay, Cassidy didn't have a place to stay either. Meaning that along with the owners of the house, Awsten, Venus, and Cassidy would all be staying here at the same time.

  And if Rosie was counting right, that meant seven of them staying in a four-bedroom house all at once. That was a lot.

  But if it meant she saw less of Awsten, she honestly wasn't complaining.

  "Here, Cass, take your bags up to my room," Aurora told her sister.

  "Venus, you can put yours in my room for now," Rosie smiled.

  Once the new guests were gone, Ophelia got up and walked over to her son. Holding his face in her hands, she said, "Thank you."

  "Yeah, whatever, mom," he smiled. "'What are brothers for' and all that shit."

  She placed a kiss to his forehead. And repeated her thanks. "Well," she said, standing up straight again, "I should probably be going. Thank you, again. I'll be back for V, I promise. I'll probably take Cass with...Just have to..." She trailed off. And instead of saying what she needed to, she repeated, "Thank you."

  She gave her son another kiss on the forehead, and West asked, "Lia, where's my kiss?"

  Ophelia lightly smacked him upside the head and gave Rosie and Aurora both a hug before leaving.

  "Seven people," Rosie sighed after she was gone.

  Aurora set a hand on her shoulder, and said, "Shit."

so many people not casted....so tempted to cast ewan mcgregor as rosie's dad.......still need a faceclaim for both herc and venus
