Daniella

I walk down the long halls leading to my office. I hum a tune I've heard this morning on the radio as the sun begins to set through the surrounding high rise buildings. It's warm rays beam through the floor to ceiling windows and splash onto the floors. The view of the sunset casting itself over the city is always so breathtaking.

It has been a busy month at my fashion agency. Employees are bustling around trying to wrap up any final tasks before next weeks new years Collection Unveiling. I watch as racks of clothing are pushed past me while other employees are confirming that my shipments have arrived for my stores over seas. Some of my employees take the time to smile and wave as I walk by, but most are too busy to even notice me.

It is one of the busiest times of the year at Xavier, so I do not fault my hard working employees for wanting to complete their tasks early.

"Good afternoon, Miss Xavier." A blonde employee calls out to me while sorting through papers and a phone pressed to her ear. "These are for you." She hands me some reports.

I quickly gloss over them. "Shipments in the USA have been exported and received by our stores there? Looks good, thank you for your hard work."

"Of course, Miss Xavier." She calls after me as I make my way to my office.

I smile and wave back at my employees who have the time spare to greet me. I stop to help a few new interns with the questions for me about their new reports. I don't mind at all. I much prefer working alongside my employees rather than being cooped up in my office all day.

Working alongside my employees instead of working on top of them also helps me improve my own work as a designer and business owner. I often find myself taking suggestions from my employees when it comes to small things like clothing designs or even bigger things like ways to minimize our waste as a massive fashion brand.

It's also how I like to stay connected with my workers. Getting to know them and watching them improve. Having them help me improve. It's a two way street that makes everyone feel important and included.

I suddenly feel my phone vibrate in my pocket, so I wrap things up with the interns quickly. "Just make sure you double check the numbers. We are human, so accidents do happen." After I receive a word of understanding, I quickly excuse myself and pull out my phone. I answer it without hesitation when I read the caller ID. "Hazel? Is everything okay?" I ask over the phone.

"Yes, everything is fine." Hazel replies with a chuckle. It instantly soothes any stress I might have had over the past few weeks.

"That's good. But..." I push open the door to my office, revealing a spacious yet comfortable room. "You never like to be distracted at work. Did something happen?"

I can almost hear the smile in Hazel's voice. "I actually managed to slip out of my office for a second to talk to you. I have some good news!"

I walk towards my large desk and sit behind it. "Okay..." I say suspiciously. "What is it?"

"A client had to reschedule an appointment with me for next Friday!" Hazel exclaims through the phone. "That means I can to go to the new years Collection Unveiling with you!"

I let a toothy grin spread across my face. "Really? Holy shit! This is going to be our first official public appearance as a couple!"
