It had been two weeks since the beginning of Gwens 'therapy'. Her first year memories had been completely rearranged, and rightfully hung on the walls where they belonged. Her mind ached with soreness. Like exercising a new muscle for the first time.Looking at Faith and Donnie felt different. Closeness. Thats all she could describe it as. Every time she looked at them, she felt giddy. They were there all along and yet the clarity of their history made her see deeper into them. Instead of groaning when Faith pulled her from her bed early in the morning, she got up without second judgement. She remembered Faith's connection to the sun. She dreamed her and her estranged father were looking at the sun at the same time, and that because they were looking at the same sun they weren't that far apart after all.
She thought relearning her own memories would make her feel intrinsically connected to herself, but seeing how she fit into the world around her was more rewarding. Like a missing puzzle piece found after the whole thing had been completed.
They had taken a break, finally. Gwen was exhausted. It felt as though she had no time to do anything else but remember. Today was her last day of freedom before Malfoy dug deep again. He felt like ice running through her veins.
The little spark within her had decayed for him. None of the nerves were felt anymore. He was nothing like she hoped he'd be. He was exactly how everyone said he was. Cold. Numb. Ruthless. It was obvious he was using this as a redeeming action so the Ministry would go easy on his sentencing. She justified it, however. She was getting her memories back, after all.
Gwen sat down for lunch next to Donnie as she always did. He seemed enthralled in a conversation with Faith who had brought her entire wardrobe to the table with her.
She was lifting up shirts to her chest every few seconds, and seems to sort them based on Donnies nods or head shakes.
"Faith?" Gwen sat down and waited for her plate to appear infront of her. Once it did she loaded it with potatoes and a chicken breast.
Faith sighed heavily, than pulled her glasses off of her nose and into her raven hair.
"I'm trying to decide what to wear." Her statement was so simple, and yet as always she seemed to disregard the larger problem. Her closet was sprawled all over the table.
"Yes, I see that. It's lunch hour. Your wardrobe is on the table." Gwen's voice was muffled as she ate. It looked as though she had been starved by how quickly she was eating.
"It was an emergency, Gwen." Faith replied, emphasizing her name. "We have plans tonight remember?"
Gwen stalled. She had no idea what Faith was talking about.
"Dunce." Faith muttered. Donnie choked down a laugh, and glanced to Gwen with a side eye to see her appalled.
"Astoria is throwing a party. She talked about it in Defense a few days ago." Donnie intervened, but from the look on Gwens face, the other two gave eachother a deadpan look.
"In the dungeons?" Faith asked.
Gwen still sat still as if nothing had been said to her. Faith closed her eyes and struggled not to laugh.
"Okay so maybe I forgot to tell her." Faith admitted with a chuckle.
Donnie leant his head back with a groan and shook his head.
"You amaze me, Faith." He mocked.
"Very funny, Donnie. Anyways, Astoria is throwing a party for seventh years in the dungeon tonight, Ginny snatched a stash of Rons muggle herbs, and as always, were supplying the refreshments."
