Charlotte has never been the perfect princess her mother wanted her to be, she cut her own throat open at twelve in order to paint with her own blood when her mother took away her paint as punishment for painting in the kitchens in exchange for pastries, however when she is mysteriously kidnapped on the night of the Queen's royal New Year's Eve party, She begins to question if the way her mother runs things is really the right way to do things . . .

Pip is a little clown girl who doesn't remember what happened to her circus, her home but tries to ignore it and live a new life because she knows something terrible has happened but when she has a nightmare her new goal is to find her clown friends and figure out what happened to the mysterious circus. But the question is what happened and what will she find?
