Essa sensação está ligada a uma consciência detalhada que a pessoa começa a ter de seu verdadeiro estado atual. Esse estado em que a pessoa se encontra é a soma de todas as áreas de sua vida. A pessoa começa a ver seu estado atual como se fosse um trailer de filme - um resumo de toda a sua jornada - e esse resumo vem diretamente do inconsciente, que é acumulado e, em alguns casos, reprimido. Esse sentimento se manifesta por meio de um evento específico. Por exemplo: quando um homem mais velho, mais experiente e mais digno em sua vida - nas áreas que a sociedade considera mais relevantes (financeira e familiar) - fala com um jovem de maneira pacífica e calma, com certa pena; e, além disso, o jovem está longe de possuir a dignidade que a sociedade exige. No exato momento em que o jovem recebe essas palavras, ele sente uma profunda aversão a si mesmo: é como se estivesse fora do próprio corpo, observando-se de um ponto distante - como se estivesse observando outro jovem em vez de si mesmo -, mas, ao mesmo tempo, sabe que não é nada disso, que ele é um só, e que está se observando. As palavras que o homem mais velho proferiu (ou poderia ter proferido) - e também a situação em que o jovem se encontra - provocam essa sensação. Exemplo de diálogo:  - Opa, bom dia. Que horas são? - pergunta o jovem a um senhor idoso, rico e que demonstra ser um homem digno das características mencionadas.  - Dez e meia, meu filho, dez e meia! - responde o homem mais velho, enfatizando a expressão "dez e meia". É nesse momento, quando o homem enfatiza a frase, que o jovem sente a sensação de autodesprezo. Porque, logo após a ênfase, o homem olha para o jovem com certa "pena", e a sensação se intensifica. Mesmo que o homem não tivesse olhado para o jovem com "pena", o jovem ainda teria sentido a sensação de autodesprezo - a única diferença seria a intensidade.
