I snuck in the house with guilt weighing on my heart. I knew I had done wrong; my conscious told me so. Adultery is a crime, and now I had to face the charges of said crime. Light danced across the floor as a person was pacing back and forth in front of it. The light at the end of the hallway. I'd snicker at the irony if it weren't under such circumstances. I moved in calculated movements toward the door. My breath rattled out of my mouth as I finally met my destination. "You'll be fine, what's the worst that could happen?" I told myself. Which was an honest question. What really was the worst that could happen? My wife could divorce me, but that'd be doing us both a favor.
