Life sucks for Jessica. She is in the 11th grade, well. Was. Sort of. In the past year, her whole life that she thought couldn't get worse became upside down. Just as she gains the ability to trust after two years of never allowing people to be her friend. She was just simply their friend. Finally, she re-meets someone from the past that she never thought she would see again. She lets her guard down for a split second and they become inseparable friends.. or so she thought. She believes if this friend gives up on her, she might as well give up on her too. The two of them were practically the same just opposite genders. Same favourite things, and they always had the same opinion. They couldn't argue anything even jokingly, it was funny at first. Then it became bizarre. They'd both never met someone so in sync to themselves. Since he stopped talking to her one day, the following few days she fell apart all alone. Kicked out of her house, family violence and a group home. What will happen? Isolated from everyone she ever knew. The silence was deafening.

If given the option to choose our own wounding, which would it be: A physical wounding; a bleeding stab, a weeping, burning infection, a cancerous decline into death or otherwise subsequently affected to a point not far from it? Or perhaps the more pervasive psychological wounding of a lifelong battle between you and your own memories? The ones you thought you left behind when you 'moved on', moved forward, moved away. Those that dwell in the dark corners of your mental and physical consciousness, treading water in bile, surging waves of nausea up into your throat, sharpening a painful hold on your life's organ as it beats its little heart out trying to keep you alive. This 'story,' if you will, is more a collection of my inane thoughts about trauma. Inspired by The Crying Book by Heather Christle, my aim is to write whenever I am triggered by past experiences of trauma, in the hopes of continuing to address and process the events that have shaped me. A girl is being tormented and haunted by her ghosts. She fears her family and dreams of being far away, in a place where she can do what she wants in peace, where she can be herself. And she'll do whatever it takes to make that happen. Even if that means she gets taken by a horde of barbarians to be a slave to a warlord.
