Poverty, prayer, and Porter. Those were the three things that Cian came to know best during his childhood in Limerick. With his family struggling to survive on the dole and his father consumed with the drink, he quickly learns that childhood isn't what he sees in those American films he watches every few weeks. It isn't filled with laughs and throwing baseballs back and forth, or eating a large family dinner after saying grace. No, not at all. Rather, it is filled with cigarette ashes and guinness glasses, illness about and mugs of stout.
