Just a fairy tale I wrote based of of Scandinavian mythological creatures - namely, the Elder Mother, the fossemnen, and a troll.

The Ragnarök. The end of the nine worlds. The end of all. Even gods. He's there. Short story about Ragnarök in Norse mythology, but especially what happens before, during the three years preceding it. This part is therefore only inspired by Scandinavian mythology: I invented the rest.

The first part of a larger project to novelize the epic poem "Beowulf," this first chapter details the life of Shield Sheafson, founder of the Danish nation who is the focus of the first 52 lines of the epic. This novelization adds a lot of backstory that the poem does not offer, though I remain faithful to the original text that exists. The retelling also tries to connect the many stories within the story of "Beowulf," creating a universe where different characters and events are interconnected. "Beowulf" is an ancient Anglo-Saxon epic poem about the life of a Viking warrior and hero. If you are into adventure stories and/or Vikings, you will enjoy this story!

After a drunken feast in the year 1067, Leif Blackhair's life takes a terrible turn: He's accused of having raped and strangled a Jarlabanke daughter, member of one of Sweden's most powerful Viking clans. And he doesn't remember a thing. Only when he's exiled and his family's farm is turned over to the Jarlabankes to pay for his crimes does Leif realize he was set up-by his friend Ragnar Jarlabanke. Ragnar wants to get rid of Leif so he can get his hands on Leif's new wife. Leif must find a way to prove that Ragnar set him up. Of course, without evidence or witnesses his chances are grim. Not only that, he's now confined to a life in the woods where men hunt for him. But if he doesn't clear his name, he will never again see his wife, and the Jarlabanke clan will work his family to death to pay for the assault on their honor.
