"This was it. No-one could deny that I, Helen Wersel, was about to achieve the feat of completing my New Year's Resolution on the very first day of the New Year. I looked at my crush, who was standing at the edge of the Coscep Public Swim Centre lap pool, wearing nothing but board shorts and a tan you could spread on a waffle and eat with maple syrup. Talking to your crush for the first time was hard, it seemed. So, maybe you could deny it. But only a little. Well, maybe a lot." Hello. This is my entry for the 'New Year Resolutions' contest by Teen Fiction Community. It's just a short story about Dani's (the character of my current story which is 'The Boy I Barely Knew') last diary entry for 2015. The story has exactly 999 words and since the word limit is 1000 words so I kept it around that much.
