Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant's beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant's debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender's wife and her father's debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail. They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant's garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was the Chairman of Drafting Committee of Constitution Assembly. The Assembly presented the final draft on 26th November 1949. Hence, independent India received its constitution on 26th January 1950 completely.

The night fell heavy on the heights of the mountains and the man could not see anything. There was zero visibility; the moon and the stars were covered by the clouds. When he was just a few feet below the top of the mountain, he slipped and fell into the air, falling at great speed. He could see only black spots as he went down, and feel the terrible sensation of being sucked in by gravity. He kept falling, and in those moments of great fear, all the good and bad episodes of his life came to his mind. He was thinking now about how close death was getting, when all of a sudden he felt the rope tied to his waist pull him very hard. His body was hanging in the air. Only the rope was holding him. In that moment of stillness he had no choice other than to scream, "Help me God." All of a sudden, a deep voice coming from the sky answered, "What do you want me to do?" "Save me God." "Do you really think I can save you?" "Of course, I believe you can." "Then cut the rope tied to your waist."

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island. The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing. Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island.

There was a forest with many birds and animals. Once, a bull wandering in the forest came upon a cave. Near the cave was a big pond and lush green grass. "This is an ideal place for me to settle down," the bull thought. So, he made the cave his home. Many days passed. The bull became quite healthy, grazing in the meadows. The bull was happy and peaceful living in that cave. He had made many friends in that forest. One day, the bull was resting outside his cave house. A lion happened to come by that way. The lion was happy to have spotted a bull after a long time. "Aha! A bull! He is so healthy too," thought the majestic lion, licking his lips in anticipation of a good meal. The bull too noticed the lion. He could sense danger. I must be on my guard now," the bull thought and decided to do something to hide himself from the lion. When the lion came close to the bull, the clever bull looked into the cave and called out, "Darling, do not cook anything for dinner. I have just spotted a lion. I am waiting for it to come near." When the lion heard the bull, he returned around and ran for his life. A jackal saw the lion running breathlessly. "Why are you running, Mr. Lion?" asked the jackal. The lion told him all that had happened. "The bull has made a fool out of you," replied the jackal. And the jackal added, "Come with me. Together we can feast on the bull." But the lion was too scared to believe the jackal.

It was a summer hot night and almost everyone was invited to the summer house of grandpa. Everyone was happy but Grandpa was the happiest. He was happy for lots of reasons, the new summer house in the mountains where you could see the river through the bedrooms windows. All his children and grand children were around. Another reason could be my new born brother and maybe some other reasons. One of the interesting points was that the two floor house had four apartments, two in each floor and ours was in the second floor. There was also a cozy flat in the entrance where belonged to the grandparents and all members were gathered there. The story starts the time we were going to sleep in our apartments in late night, when my mother lit the candles since the new house electricity was disconnected. I was only four years old and almost curious about anything, I saw that some insects were heading to the candles fire and burned. "What are these?" I asked very astonished. "They are moths," Mom answered. I tried to catch one and also I touched the fire of the candle and my finger got burned. I called mother. My mom jumped and took me to the kitchen and washed my finger. She rubbed some ointment for burns on my finger and called my father, "Hey man, why don't you take care of her?" she said in a tired voice. "Don't you see I am busy with the other one?" she continued. Dad hugged me and tried to make me calm. "Why did you touch the fire my honey girl?" he asked me with a kind voice. "I saw those little flying things went into that fire," I answered. "They are the only creatures in the world who put themselves in the fire," father answered confidently.

She was welcomed by the host, who promptly asked her, We look forward to the next big event now- your daughter's wedding, to which the mother replied, Why? What is so great about that? To which the other lady replied, Are you not bothered? She is already & settled in a stable job, you should look for someone now, she should marry by the time she is 27-28 at least!. The mother, who had been asked the same question everywhere she went, took a deep breath. She replied, Wouldn't it be a big event if my daughter won the Pulitzer? Or if she cracked the UPSC? Or even if she received a promotion in her job and became a Manager at the young age of 27-28? Or even if she decides to live her life to the fullest and take a vacation on her own, traveling the world, wouldn't that be a big event? The other woman was stunned. The mother was yet to finish. Wherever I go, it seems as if my daughter has only one function in life to get married. It seems as if at her age she should just bother about settling down. Why doesn't anyone ask me when will she freely celebrate her love? Why isn't anyone bothered about how she is doing in her job? Does she like it at her company? Whether she wants to begin a company of her own, what is the idea she has? For me, her biggest achievement is when she fulfills her dream. But, sadly, I am labeled as a bad mother when I don't bother about her wedding. If she wants to marry, at whatever age it is, its a personal thing. You all are not marrying her, are you?
