A story for the year 20-whatever. (Or the end of the age, depending).

Seychelle: She's not the most positive girl on Earth. And according to her, why should she be? Friendless, 16-year old 'Sey' lost her father and no one -not even her remarried mother and older brother- understands Seychelle in her Twilight Zone-watching, Dr. Seuss-reading, corn nut-eating entirety. Finally, Seychelle decides to escape from her suburb to Chicago, using the Old Plank Trail as her route and Ruby the Bike as her means of transportation. Then, on her way to the train station, she meets Sunny. They don't have much in common nor is Sunny's past clear. However, he may just be the one Sey wants; and she may just be the one he needs. Together, they embark on a journey that just may get Seychelle to wish on eyelashes again.

~History is subjective. Aside from the where, when, and who of particular events or conflicts, we're usually given the dominant culture's perspective of what happened and why. Often self-serving, our collective memory and even our collective amnesia of events help us justify behaviours and attitudes we are loath to examine or change. On a personal level, history is everything we've encountered in our lives up to the present moment: The formative events as well as the ambient cultural stream in which they take place. The poems in "History" were sparked by fragments of memory, spontaneous images, or 're-membered' emotions from my personal past. Each work attempts to explore the what and why of my young life in an openminded, often stream-of-consciousness style, allowing emerging images to create vignettes in which meaning can be found. This 're-collection' is dedicated to a young me, the child I once was...

Just a book of my thoughts, some of the poetry I wrote, and just me acting deranged in quarantine.

Max Jennings is a single fifty-two year old twice divorced architectural consultant father of two who is secretly epileptic and smitten with a married woman named Lara. Max's best female friend, Sally McClellan, is one of his best clients. And Sally just happens to be a child psychologist and Lara's best friend. This serio-comic tale is about Max and later-life love pursuit. There are young characters and gay characters and non-white characters, but this story is mainly about straight Anglo-Saxon well-educated men and women struggling to find love or stay in love in the later chapters of their smallish town lives. p.s. If you don't like run-on sentences and m-dashes, this story isn't for you (smiley face).
