"Do you see my smile? Because I certainly can't."

On a far away world there exists a place where one half of the planet is eternally day, and the other is eternally night. A mysterious sun-god promises great powers to all on one condition; relinquish your emotions. The ones that do so become hearers, which huddle up in isolated temples called 'mirrors' and hear the voice of the god, as they devise newfound songs to further explore the powers this god promises.

Rial was abused ever since she was little. She endured all the gruesome and disgusting torment brought upon her with the sheer purpose of keeping her younger brother, Mun, still within the realms of innocence and happiness. Years of exploitations and twisted willpower distorted Rial's mind to the point of psychopathy and insanity. Eventually Rial escaped her childhood hell, yet her past is not so keen at letting go.

Then Rial meets a hearer. And thoughts of curiosity, hatred, and vengeance swirl around her head.

. On the day her twin sister "died," or that what she thought everything she knew shattered. She remembered the scream, the fall, the blood-and then the world changed. In the chaos, no one asked her what really happened. They didn't care to hear her version. Her parents, once the warmth in her world, turned cold overnight. The brothers who loved her most began to look at her like a monster. Whispers filled the house. Accusations behind closed doors. She was blamed, judged, and punished-not by strangers, but by her own blood. And then, without warning, they sent her away. A boarding school in another country, they said, as if it were for her own good. But it wasn't a school-it was a cage dressed in discipline. Far from home, far from love, she entered a place no child should ever be. Hidden behind iron gates and smiling lies, that school was a breeding ground for cruelty. Every corner held secrets. Every night was a nightmare. And no one ever came looking for her. Not a single letter. Not a single call. They forgot her- Years passed. . And then came the call. Her family wanted her to return. As if they still had the right to call her back. But the girl who left never came back-not really. What returns now is someone colder, quieter, sharper. She tells herself she feels nothing for them. That she's learned to live without love. That hatred is easier than hope. But buried beneath the years and pain, there is still a small voice inside her-a child's voice-aching to be believed, to be seen, to be forgiven for a crime she never committed. Will her family finally face what they've done? And when the truth comes out-will it set her free, or break her all over again?

Will she ever forgive them for abandoning her? Will they ever be able to unveil her secrets? Where was she for all those years? This is story of a girl who was abandoned by her brothers when she was seven. Now, after 9 years, her brothers brought her back home. How will she deal with them, simultaneously dealing with the terrors that haunt her every night? Sneak Peak- Once we were out, I stopped and turned to face my blood relatives and said, "Okay, now that I am out you don't need to act anymore. Now, you guys can go back to your house and pretend that this never happened. I will go to my house and will make sure that we will not cross each other's path, even by accident." I was about to turn back when Ezekiel held my elbow, stopping me on my track. I immediately snatched my hand back glaring at him and said, "Do not ever touch me again." His eyes showed an emotion of hurt that I am sure I read incorrectly because one thing that Kensington brothers are incapable of was getting hurt by any outsider. And that was what I was. An outsider. Sensing the tension in the atmosphere Aldric took it upon himself to say whatever his brother was about to. "You are going with us." He spoke. One thing about Aldric Kensington was that once he has made his mind, there is nothing in this world that can change his decision. This is the very quality of his that made my life a living nightmare, and this is exactly why I hate him more than any of my brothers. "Let's go Athaliah," Ezekiel said this time. That name. No one has called me by that name in six years. "My name is Zahra," I corrected and continued, "And I am not going with you." #1 in pastabuse #1 in abusing #1 in nightterror on 27/02/25 #1 in running on 2/2/25, 26/4 #1 in babysister on 15/12/24 #1 in brothersconflict on 27/12/24 #2 in abandoned #2 in broken #2 in brokenfamily #4 in olderbrother #5 in mafiaprincess #9 in siblings #3 in siblingrivalry #18 in trauma #34 in littlesister #59 in mafia

Beneath the roots lies a realm unspoken, where shadows breathe and rivers run black. A single step too far unravels the veil between worlds, turning play into curse, and innocence into exile. Beyond the roots, the air itself conspires, forests whisper of forgotten kings, and demons walk as both beasts and men. Yet above that abyss rises a kingdom of warmth, a fragile jewel cradled in sunlight. Its streets awaken each dawn in a riot of color: banners ripple, stalls spill with fruit and cloth, and fountains laugh with crystal spray. Children dart through blooming gardens, their laughter ringing louder than bells, while elders sit beneath arching roots, telling stories of brighter days. Here, joy is stitched into life itself. The baker greets with sugared bread, the blacksmith's hammer sings with the town musicians, and couples dance when lanterns glow like fallen stars. Festivals turn nights into oceans of song, where drums thunder and torches paint the sky in fire and gold. In this place, hope does not hide-it parades, it feasts, it laughs. The people call their home a sanctuary, untouched by sorrow, where each day begins with promise and ends in peace. To live here is to believe, if only for a moment, that darkness is nothing more than a distant dream. But beneath their feet, the roots stretch into silence. For every blossom hides its shadow, and every feast masks a silence that waits. The kingdom may be a cradle of joy, but its foundation drinks from the same soil where nightmares stir. Here, survival is no gift. Every choice is a bargain, every path a trial. What seems human may wear another face, and what seems monstrous may hold a broken heart. Secrets buried for centuries stir in the soil, twisting destiny tighter with every breath. This is not a tale of crowns or kingdoms, but of a world where light is fragile, where hope withers, and where even the roots that bind the earth tremble before what waits below.
