As a support effort for her husband and fellow soldiers who are away fighting, Anne Hickey agrees to read out the letters that she receives from her husband on live tv to Aotearoa. Not knowing that it would change her life and capture the hearts of many New Zealanders. The Account of Anne Hickey is a novella following the story of Anne Hickey. There is conflict on the world stage, and Anne who is based in New Zealand reads out letters from her husband on live Television. Her husband is a medic in the Philippines near the front lines and is searching for their friend Juan. Anne works for a news agency as an editor in Auckland and lives alone with a dog called Lady and a cat called Gandalf. While grappling with her mental health over the worry of her husband, Anne reforges her relationship with her mother. She fears that her husband could be maimed as a hero and be lost forever as her father had been.
