Controlling power. That's all the people knew. Nothing seemed right anymore. Symbols started to define who you were and if you were dead or not. + signs, rainbow + signs would symbolize that you would die within 24 hours. Indigo knew this all to well. Watching 18 year olds die after being marked. He never wanted it to happen to himself. His shirt was pulled down a small amount as to not show his er female parts. His + showed. Screams of other teens as they were ripped away from cell mates that they had made friends with. 18..17..16..15, minutes ticked by they seemed fast.

The whole camp was filling with smoke. I coughed, praying that my lungs would keep working for just a few more minutes. "Eli, which way is west?" Adam's breathing was just as labored from physical exertion, smoke, and panic as mine was. I didn't even process the question. I didn't know. There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. The night when everything got f*cked up.
The party was quite nice. The school year had just started. But there was too much alcohol, too many problems, and a unfortunate accident that would kill 5 kids, leaving many in grief.
