Shad is your name, you are the son of the overlord and possesses the element of darkness from your father, inheriting only the oni part from him, you have black skin and thick skin, horns and a tail, you even figure out how to turn yourself to look like a human.
You were still little, but the overlord only uses you like a battery for his "experiments", so you decided to escape, luckily mister Wu finds you and at the age of 9 you meet the future ninjas Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole, and after a while you meet Lloyd who was trying to convince you to become "evil" while he was only 10, after the tomorrow's tea, after Wu takes care of you and helps you with your element making you a literal expert, you could create things made out of the shadows around, move the shadows, levitate things with your shadows, teleport through the shadows even create a darkness void (literally you create another dimension) and much more.
unfortunately in one of the fights against the overlord, he uses a weapon that teleports you to another realm, away from your friends.
