He stood there, pressing the gun against my forehead, his eyes burning with anger, betrayal, and hate.

Hate-something I never wanted to see in his eyes. So much had happened, yet I had never seen him look at me with such loathing.

For a moment, I considered pleading with him. Asking him not to kill me, to let me bring our child into this world. But did he even want the same? Would he care for him or her?

This pregnancy-it happened because I tricked him. He would never even want to look at our child's face.

For the first time, fear gripped me.

I had done so many things that gave him every reason to hate me, and maybe I deserved this-death at the hands of the man I loved with all my heart.

But he would never know. I loved him, still do, and even after death, my soul would continue to love him.

"I'm scared, Rey," I whispered, my voice trembling. "Will you hold me when I fall?"

He pulled the trigger.

And then, I felt his arms wrap around my waist.

That was the end-my end. Our end.
