After the case, when Aashvee went to her firm because she had some clients waiting for her, I arrived at my office, and all the staff members congratulated me on the victory. The cabin was filled with flowers and sweets, sent by some board members and business colleagues.I settled on the couch and dialed my cousin's number. After four or five rings, he picked up the call, his voice sounding very tired and hoarse.
"Hello, who is this?"
"You've even forgotten your brother, Vikrant?"
There was a pause for a few seconds before Vikrant spoke.
"Oh, Reyansh, sorry, I was busy with some experiment. How are you, brother? And congratulations on the win."
I frowned.
"You just said you were experimenting, so how do you know?"
He chuckled.
"Well, I have my sources-"
"Yeah, yeah. I expected you to at least attend your sister's marriage, but sir, you are still in Melbourne, aren't you?"
After another pause, he spoke.
"There is an important conference going on here. I can't miss it, and Raghbir is there. He will surely attend all the functions."
I just shook my head. Vikrant and his disdain for his own country... well, he wasn't totally wrong, but he could still try to attend his only sister's wedding. I sighed.
"Okay, there is no point in convincing you. So, let me come to the point. I need your help, and I am not giving you any choice."
Without any second thought, he agreed.
"I want all the information about Omkar Singh Shekhawat."
I had doubted him for a long time. He might be Aashvee's most trusted person, but not mine.
He was the only one, besides Aashvee and me, who knew about the evidence.
When I asked Aashvee a few days ago if Om knew the evidence was fake, she said only she and Dr. Fernandez knew it. Aashvee and I were together when someone stole the evidence, then that bomb blast-someone literally wanted to kill me.
It might not be Om, but behind that guy Harish's death, I highly suspected it could be Om. As Mr. Jaiswal said, he was the last one to meet Harish, and Om had an aura that never seemed innocent to me.
Maybe Aashvee never liked or loved him, but it couldn't be the same from his side.
"Give me an hour, and I'll call you back."
He cut the call, and I rested my head on the headrest. I had come to the office with the thought of doing some work, but my mind was full of negative thoughts.
