Reyansh had been on a call with his new assistant, discussing the preparation of his jet. Once he finished, he ended the call and turned to look at Aashvee, who stood with her back to him near the dining table.
He moved silently towards her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, burying his face in her neck.
"Did you take the contraceptive pill?" he asked softly after pressing a kiss to her neck.
She showed him the pill in her hand and swallowed it with water.
"The jet is prepared. Are you ready? We should leave now!" Reyansh said, planting a kiss on her cheek.
"Yeah, just a minute. I need to make an important call," he nodded, heading to his room to retrieve their bags. She stepped onto the balcony to call Om.
"Did you complete the task?" Her voice carried an edge, a warning that failure would not be tolerated.
She had ordered Om to eliminate the man who had slandered Reyansh yesterday, demanding nothing less than his death.
After a few seconds of silence, Om finally spoke, his voice low and grim. "His daughter was raped."
Those words drained the anger from her instantly.
"She was killed after the gang rape. He didn't find justice because the perpetrator was a minister's son."
His voice trembled with barely suppressed fury. If the man responsible were in front of him, Om would have torn him apart.
"Contact him and reopen the case. You're handling it," she commanded before ending the call. Aashvee then glanced at the cloudy sky and sighed.
They left for the airport and boarded the flight. Soon, they arrived in Jodhpur, where a car was waiting to pick them up.
The car stopped in front of a grand mansion, more akin to a palace. Aashvee reached for her purse and was about to open the door when Reyansh opened it for her, a soft smile on his face as he extended his hand.
She took his hand and stepped out, her eyes scanning the palace where two more cars were parked.
"Welcome to my hometown," Reyansh said, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "I didn't spend much time here, but I have some faded memories with my cousins."
Aashvee smiled at him. "How long had it been since you last visited?" she asked, noticing the sadness in his eyes.
"More than 20 years. I haven't visited the palace since... since my father closed it after my mother's death. She loved living here, and this palace holds their memories. Today, after 27 years, he agreed to open it. I can only imagine what he must be feeling. He never let anyone open it before. I begged him once to let me visit because I was missing her on my 11th birthday. After that, I never returned... until today."
