Mildred Hardy or Mil is a 14 year old girl from a small, medieval village called Twombleigh Town and is also the great granddaughter of the late Clarke Hardy, the famous former town mayor who tragically disappeared back in the 90's and was reported dead which sent the village into complete bedlam. Her grandmother took over her late father's manor picking up his former duties. Twombleigh is all Mil knows and lives with her mother, a housewife to her father Otis Hardy who is an ex Philosophy professor at the towns university but loses his job which causes Mil and her family including her 12 year old sister Imogen to lose their childhood home. This led to them having to move into the Hardy Manor with their rich grandmother who inherited all of her father's money when he passed. Mildred's father and grandmother have unresolved issues, there is tension lingering ever since the family moved into the manor. Hidden agendas unfold, sinister whispers echo around the town, scandal and betrayal looms and most of all deceit begins to linger. Mil yearns to understand why her family dynamic has become hand in hand with misery itself therefore, alongside her social life, unique intellect and falling in love for the first time she finds the capacity to start digging for answers behind the scenes, still being able to manipulate those around her of the illusion that everything is normal and as simple as it once was, until she simply cannot... The infamous boy from school in the year above who was mysteriously admitted into rehab suddenly returns, her nightmares became her and a secret battle between the past and the present and what is real and what isn't commences. Mil is never the same girl again and when layers of her magical truth unravel her previous and simple life becomes a distant memory.
