Theo never expected to be reaped. But now he's on the train to the Capitol where he will undoubtedly die. He might as well accept it- no-one from District 8 ever wins- but he still has one reason to keep fighting: Ari.
Theo and Ari have been best friends since they were children. He's never told her that he wishes they were more. Maybe if he wins, he can go home and they can live the life he's always dreamed of.
But the life of a victor is not what it seems. Especially not when the people of the Capitol see you as their Prince Charming.
