But, with a nearby mer tribe threatening their existence as well as a deadly epidemic spreading throughout the sea, she has a lot to fix. He is pressured into an engagement and a business internship. Can they overcome the rules that both of their societies have placed on them? Will they become the liaison that bridges their illicit worlds together?

It's hard being a mermaid in the modern world. Laguna Irving knows this all too well, considering the fact that she is a mermaid living in the heart of New York City.
