Hey - I write angsty stuff and include topics about social theory far more often than I should. 

I love it when stories consider the psychological and societal development in creating a character and found that fan fiction is a great place to practice that. 

Fan fiction is a great way to use 'being a nerd' to talk about issues of the human condition and the heart. In other words, Fan Fiction is awesome to talk about pretentious things in a less pretentious form so that everyone can enjoy the trauma that is questioning our existence of life.
