Ako could feel the rumbling underneath her paws, and her heart dropped low in her stomach. She looked in a panic at her companions and saw that they, too, felt the disruption of the earth. Suddenly lightning split the sky, and the grey fox flinched back, her ears pressing against her skull as thunder shook her and the sky released a downpour.
"We need to get out of the rain!" Ako barked, hoping she could be heard above the growing growling of the ground. "We can't-"
Another thunder strike cut her off, and she never got to finish her sentence. The ground around them was soaked, and the earth choked violently. The ground below them was tearing itself open.
