On this beautiful day, 51 years ago, September 21st, 1967. Fred Rodgers walked into a television studio in Pittsburgh to tape the first episode of a beloved show that we would all grow to know and love. Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.
He would start off stating that it was a beautiful day and asking if you would, if you could, be his neighbor. And evidently, we would all become neighbors in this neighborhood. Just remembering his messages and even his songs still keep him alive to this day.
And he would end the show by stating; “I love you just the way you are.”
That alone would bring so many people reassurance and the love that they needed. Including some of his friends who worked with him. And they all passed that message along.
Now, we all ask the same question he asked; “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”
Have a lovely day or evening my fellow neighbors.
And remember that you are special the way you are and people will love you for the person you are.
I know I do.
