When the word 'health' is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is that of physical. And only occassionally that we think of our mental status as part of our general health. Often overlooked, we, therefore, fail to understand those who are suffering from mental health problems.
Misconceptions surround this lingering issue and emotional struggles are most frequently invalidated. Instead of opening up what they feel and think, they opt to keep it within themselves and suffer alone. Little did we know that sharing their stories and burdens is all they needed to keep them going through the uncertainties of this life.
Today, as we celebrate the World Mental Health Day, we urge you take a leap in promoting mental health and remind someone you know that "It is okay not to be okay".
