Mary Carroll Murphy, an acclaimed business owner and ex-Fortune 500 executive, originates from Western Massachusetts but has become a notable figure in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Her corporate journey commenced when she was relocated to Bedford, New Hampshire, in 1990 by Digital Equipment Corporation to promote pioneering office systems. Her career has spanned across various states and countries, accumulating numerous awards in information technology and financial services.

Today, she is at the helm of Cost Cures, a Peterborough-based software company she founded in 2024. The company is known for its innovative approach to healthcare, which provides price transparency in dental, healthcare, and vision services, aiming to reduce national healthcare expenditure. It is developing an AI-driven database to help users find affordable healthcare services nationwide. Additionally, she manages Black Shoals Farm, a sustainable farm in Francestown, New Hampshire, which she established with her husband in 2022.

Murphy's entrepreneurial spirit was evident when she became the first Charles Schwab Independent Branch franchisee in 2011, a venture that grew to manage nearly $1 billion by 2022. Her significant contributions were recognized with the Charles Schwab Champion Award, leading her to sell the franchise later that year.

Her career began in 1979 with Eversource in Massachusetts and Connecticut. By 1982, she had transitioned to ITT/Hartford Insurance Group as a Technical Analyst, quickly ascending to higher roles and eventually joining IBM/Lotus Development in Europe to deploy internet and email services globally.

Taking a career hiatus in 2001 to care for her parents, she later pursued an M.Ed. from Rivier University. This led to a brief teaching stint before she returned to finance with UBS and then MassMutual.
