Due to a decision by President Trump to make drastic cuts, many people no longer have access to life-saving HIV care. Clinics are closing, staff are being laid off, and millions of people risk losing their medication — all because of a single signature.
The U.S. PEPFAR program, the largest AIDS response program in the world, has saved an estimated 25 million lives over the past 20 years by making HIV medication and care available in low- and middle-income countries. Today, around 20 million people worldwide are still dependent on this support.
Because we know what AIDS mortality rates look like when HIV treatment is unavailable, the impact of these cuts is already devastating. At least 145,000 people living with HIV have died as a direct result of the severe reductions in HIV aid. Among them are an estimated more than 14,000 children.
As pregnant women living with HIV also lose access to treatment, more children are being born with HIV. Without treatment, 20% of these children die within the first three months of life. This is why your help is needed now more than ever.
Here is the link to the website of the Dutch AIDS Foundation. Although the foundation and its website are Dutch, its mission and work reach people all over the world.
“Doneer Nu” means “Donate Now” — and if you can, please do. The amount does not matter. What matters is that you speak up and stand up for those who need you. Who need us. Lives depend on our help and our support.
If you are unable to donate, please help by spreading awareness. This crisis is not getting the attention it deserves — not nearly enough.

@rsettae Thank you so much for your considerate response and for understanding my position. It feels nice to see you trying to spread awareness while being a student yourself. I’m not from the States, but Trump’s actions are not hidden. I truly wish everything goes well for everyone, and I hope the world has more thoughtful, initiative-driven, and kind people like you.

@rsettae I totally understand — I’m a student myself, so I really get it. Please don’t beat yourself up about not being able to offer much right now. The fact that you care, that you took the time to read everything and respond, honestly means so much on its own. That already says a lot about the kind of heart you have. And yes, you can absolutely share it on your profile! Spreading awareness is the first step — and one of the most important ones — when it comes to solving problems like this. Talking about it, letting others know what’s happening, that’s powerful. Please remember, you’re already doing more than most people just by reading, caring, and engaging. That truly matters. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and for taking the time to respond. It means a lot to me <3
