chapter six- scintilla

The two made their way to the Ravenclaw table and were greeted by Luna.
"George, about tonight, I'm not sure anymore. I had a bad sleep last night and I'm exhausted", Blaire said regretfully.

"Oh no. Whatever it is, it can wait!", Luna interfered, putting a comforting hand on hers. Blaire smiled at her weakly and was glad Luna was on her side.

"I knew it. There is something going on between you two. Always acting hot and cold, being mad at each other one second and then utterly familiar at the other. He almost rearranged my nose earlier when I wouldn't tell him about our plan."

George's narrowed eyes were focused on Blaire. The girl swallowed and her eyes shot up to meet his. She was not going to let him find out about whatever it was they had.

"What the hell, George? I just told you that I'm tired, I didn't sleep at all tonight!"

George took a deep breath. "Because of him, right?"

That was too much. Blaire stood up, slammed her hands on the table and her lips slowly formed the words "I. don't. like. Fred. Besides, I've got a date with Cedric Diggory tomorrow."

A wave of shock washed over both Luna and George who were now staring at her with utter confusion.
"Oh, I'm so happy for you, love", Luna suddenly said, got up and hugged her tightly, still visibly confused.
Oh, how she loved that girl.

"Well, then I'm happy to help you scare Fred tonight because that's what we will do, if you want to or not", George smiled knowingly.
"Write a note now, I'll slip it to him throughout the day and make sure he accepts your offer. I know just the right charm that will do the deed properly."

Although Blaire was fuming inside, she made an attempt to not show it George as that would've given away that she really liked his brother. Luna was watching her closely, her eyes trailing over every word that she wrote on the parchment.
"Freddie, it's Blaire. I'd like to discuss last nights events with you because I feel like we left many things unspoken. I hope you accept my invitation to meet me in the forest tonight. 9pm sharp. If you're not there, I know what it means. I hope I'll see you there. Yours, B"

The last two words earned her a confused look from George.
"Well, alright, my mission is finished here. I'll make sure he gets your note and make him regret ever messing with you. But don't you forget the other end of the deal. I'll see you tonight" , he said while folding the parchment and shoving it into his pockets. As soon as George got up and made his way back to his twin, Luna became unsteady.

"What is going on between you and the twins. It's all so confusing to me, I mean you clearly like Fred but what's up with George and you? And what deal is he talking about? Are you doing drugs?"

Blaire couldn't help but let out a little chuckle. "No Luna, I'm certainly not doing drugs with the twins. And I don't like either of them that way"

"Hey! Lying isn't nice, especially to your best friend", she suddenly uttered. Her hand shot up to her mouth. "You do like him, don't you love?"
Unable to lie to Luna and needing to talk to someone about it, she simply nodded.
Luna shrieked in excitement. "You two would look so good together! Why don't you tell him that you like him?"
"I can't. First of all, Ron would quite literally murder me, and secondly I'm not even sure what I feel. I don't wanna destroy our friendship and I don't even know if he feels the same way." Blaire sighed and her eyebrows wrinkled. She motioned for Luna to come closer and whispered "And I don't feel the same way about Cedric, the date is just a distraction to help me deal with the Fred situation"

Luna shook her head in despair and stroked her luscious blonde hair with her fingers. She sighed. "Oh Blaire, if you were to see the world through my eyes, you would notice that everyone here loves you. Ron couldn't stay mad at you for more than a split second and I've got a feeling that Fred also sees you in a romantic way."
