It was crazy and unbelievable, but she had gotten used to it. The brunette came to terms with having a drummer brother over the years. At first, when Tommy was just starting out, fifteen-year-old Valencia decided to stay focused on her studies and go to a great college to further increase her education.
She thought that Tommy was simply insane for trying to become a rockstar. Tommy was just lucky that his parents even accepted his foolish and downright childish wish. It's not like most people woke up with the desire to become a musician. But Tommy wasn't most people. He never did fit into the average mold of "normal." And who was to even say what normal meant?
Life just continued to keep on moving, sometimes speeding up, but never slowing down much to Valencia's chagrin. The girl oftentimes felt like she had unintentionally wasted her childhood because she was too much of a goody-two-shoes to step out of her comfort zone. And, well, it's not like Valencia had never been to a teenage party. She attended plenty to understand that it wasn't her scene. Teenagers were just too immature for her even when she was a teen herself. Out of her whole entire childhood and step into adolescence, Valencia's best moments happened when her big brother was by her side. The good vibes between them were unbelievably strong and the sibling bond was even stronger.
But that all changed when Mötley Crüe's first serious tour came around. '83 was a year of new beginnings for both the guys and Valencia. Bitches, coke, and alcohol seemed to fuel the new band. The brunette was there to see all of it. Valencia experienced the fucking nightmare that was the Crüe's first tour. No, it wasn't fucking fun. It was like babysitting three overgrown toddlers—Valencia got a lucky break since Mick was the only quote-unquote normal one. In reality, the guitarist was far from normality, but compared to the other three, he was just fine.
Watching three young guys wreak havoc every day took the biggest toll on Valencia's mental state. Her own brother's head was completely fucking distorted from the drugs, fame, and money. Sometimes Tommy got into the most detrimental fights with Valencia and he would go on and on about how he didn't want her on the tour. Sometimes the drummer would say that he fucking hated Valencia. But that was just the drugs talking. Valencia knew that, but that didn't mean it hurt her any less. That's when she did the most drastic thing she could think of. A decision that would stay in the back of her mind until the end of her days; Valencia slept with Nikki on the account of wanting to make Tommy fucking angry.
And while that plan seemed to go smoothly leading up to the part where Valencia had sex with the bassist, there was a bump in the road. The girl never managed to tell Tommy. By the time it was the next day, Valencia felt bad and threatened Nikki to never speak of it again. And he didn't. But to this day, Tommy Lee had no idea that his precious baby sister—whom he would do anything for—slept with his best friend. On some occasions, like right now, for example, the guilt would come back to haunt her. It seemed silly, but the fact that Valencia was so eager to get back at her brother in a way like this was just fucked up in too many ways to count. Valencia didn't even waste time pursuing the bassist. As soon as she turned eighteen during the tour, she ran straight to Nikki's room. Fucking pathetic and reckless.
"What were you like as a kid?" Valencia turned her head to the side to look at her boyfriend. Steven was also super focused on the moonlit water in front of him. The fact that there were lumps of sand in his shoes didn't even bother him at this point. Just like Valencia, Steven was also mulling some things over as he listened to the waves crash against the sand.
The thoughts in the drummer's mind were much nicer compared to what Valencia's brain was conjuring up for her. The blond was thinking about the perfect occasion to pop the long-awaited question. Steven deemed tonight as the perfect time and it probably would've been if he hadn't left the ring back at his apartment. But when Valencia's sweet and quiet voice entered his ears, Steven turned to face his girlfriend. Maybe a little too eagerly.
"A pain in the ass," Steven confessed with a breathy chuckle which prompted Valencia to smile at how precious he was. Steven's laugh was what the girl needed to snap out of her partially bad mood. The girl didn't expect anything less of Steven's nonchalant statement. It was a silly question, to begin with. Of course, he was a pain in the ass. What little boy wasn't? Valencia still remembered when Tommy would steal her Barbies and throw them in the mud for his own entertainment. Tommy's explanation for that action was that Barbie should have a "cooler and way awesome purpose." And then Valencia would cry and rat her older brother out. The girl shook her head a little to get back into reality. She gestured with her hand for Steven to elaborate on how he was a child. The final verdict was: "Way too hyper and annoying."
"Nothing's changed then," Valencia replied and tried to stifle a laugh as she playfully elbowed Steven's side. The drummer just sat there with a blank expression, but Valencia knew he was just messing around. Valencia took this time to lay her head on Steven's shoulder and scoot over a little until her side was touching his. The salty air mixing with Steven's cologne was a pleasant scent for Valencia and the warmth of his body wasn't bad either.
"Good one. Tell me when to laugh."
"You're silly," Valencia calmly told her boyfriend as she grabbed his rough hand in her soft ones. A strong breeze swept across the beach, blowing sand in all directions, but not even that stopped the young couple from being in a bubble of bliss. "Listen. I don't know if I'm, like, too much to deal with sometimes, but please tell me if I am. I don't wanna be a burden. I wanna be your number one fan and greatest girlfriend."
"No one will take those spots from you. Trust me, Val. It's you and me against the world. Always," Steven professed as his hand went to squeeze Valencia's as a way to tell her that he meant it. The drummer was really frustrated about forgetting the ring since this would've been an amazing opportunity for a proposal. Steven inhaled and exhaled just to keep his strong emotions at bay. However, a burst of enthusiasm flared up inside of him when Valencia spoke up for the last time that night.
"Always."
