Tommy Lee almost spat out the beer that was lingering in his mouth when Steven dropped the bombshell that was the topic of marriage—more specifically, marrying Valencia. The Mötley Crüe drummer wasn't pissed or upset about the possibility of his friend and little sister getting engaged and then married. Tommy was more so surprised over the hasty decision and Steven not wasting a minute without jumping into the long-awaited conversation. Tommy was just casually sitting by the bar with his beer bottle in his hand when Steven came barreling through the door of the bar. The blond's first words to Tommy were the following: "Can I marry your sister?"

"Hold the fuck up. You're asking to marry my sister? You know you don't have to ask my permission, right? Jesus! Take a breath, dude. You look like you're gonna pass out," Tommy chuckled before taking a hefty sip from the beer bottle. Of course, Steven was about to pass out. He ran all the way to the Sunset Strip just to see Tommy and ask him this one thing. Steven knew that his friend was at the Whisky almost every night and it was no surprise to see Tommy in his usual spot, drinking his usual drink of choice.

"So, I should've just done it behind your back?" Steven asked with a smile as he leaned his body against the bar just to stop himself from collapsing out of sheer exhaustion. The blond drummer would've gladly skipped asking Tommy for permission and just asked Valencia to marry him, but Tommy was his friend and it simply wouldn't sit right with Steven to leave him in the dark. If he was going to actually go through with making Valencia his wife, then he needed to be honest with his future brother-in-law.

"Good point, man. You did the right thing. I'm glad you came to me beforehand," Tommy's confession and understanding nod made Steven feel like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Maybe honesty was a good quality to have. Tommy's complimentary words reminded the young drummer of the time he first came to Los Angeles. Steven was just starting out and there was this other wannabe rockstar who gave "advice" to Steven. It was more like a guide on how to be a proper asshole. The guy and his ragtag group of friends always made it known that being a good guy wouldn't get a person anywhere. They were dead wrong. Steven was pretty much the opposite of them. Tommy's voice managed to bring Steven back to reality. "But are you sure you wanna marry Val?"

"You trying to tell me I shouldn't?"

Steven couldn't figure out if Tommy was saying it in a banter type of way like "Oh, you shouldn't marry my sister because she's a handful" or if the drummer was actually trying to say something serious about his dear baby sister in the hopes of trying to warn Steven before it was too late. The puzzled look on Steven's face was evident when Tommy glanced at him again. The older guy cracked a smile and let out an airy laugh. Before Steven could blink, Tommy landed a swift punch upon his upper arm as a friendly gesture. Playful violence definitely ran in the family.

"Fuck no! She's my sister and I want the best for her. If she wants to marry you then I don't give a shit, but Val's so...I don't know, impulsive and she will rush into marrying you without thinking about the future. I mean you two are still young and—," Tommy began, accentuating his words with wild hand gestures as usual. The truth was that Steven should've been listening to Tommy's advice or lack thereof, but he wasn't. Steven was too hung up on Valencia and the possibilities of marriage. He couldn't fucking wait to see her walk down the aisle in a gorgeous dress, all dolled up. And even if Steven didn't comprehend it, the fact that Tommy was talking about getting married at a young age was ironic in itself when Tommy Lee was the king of hasty, careless decisions.

"I wanna marry her. She's the girl I see myself spending every second of my life with. Everything about Valencia is amazing. I fucking love her," Steven admitted with the most serious tone that Tommy had ever heard from the guy. The blond drummer didn't care about the consequences considering he cut off Tommy's statement. Steven just wanted to be with the love of his life until the end of time even if it sounded stupid. Tommy shrugged to himself since he couldn't really get through to Steven, so he just let it be. At least he tried.

"Alright, man. Whatever you want. I respect the decision either way," Tommy said, slightly giving up on his little spiel from earlier. He was merely trying to protect both Steven and Valencia from possible heartache if they ever decided to end their sudden marriage. But that was not definite and if it were to happen by any chance, the two young people would have to figure that out by themselves. Tommy would have to sit on the sidelines and watch the outcome—whether positive or negative—quietly. Tommy decided to change the topic since he could feel the atmosphere becoming heavy. "How much did you spend on the ring anyway?"

"Around five thousand. You gonna outdo me and tell me how much you spent on yours?" Steven jokingly questioned, not expecting to receive an answer from Tommy. But of course, Tommy wasn't one to keep his mouth shut when he was challenged. Neither was Valencia. That was one of the reasons why Steven was completely in love with her. Valencia made things interesting when Steven brought up some type of competition. She wasn't one of those girls that let the man in the relationship win the arguments. Oh, no. Not at all. Valencia would argue until she got her way and was told that she was right. In most cases, Steven let her win because he didn't like the conflict all that much. And even if that slightly damaged his masculinity, the blond didn't give a fuck. Steven was being true to himself unlike some of the guys around him.

"Nah, I wouldn't do that. But I could wipe my ass with five thousand dollars. Try spending fifteen thousand."

Steven raised his middle finger and just smiled at Tommy mockingly. The other drummer just cackled, almost falling off the barstool. The blond never thought that Tommy spent that much money on the ring he got for Heather. Steven knew that Tommy adored his wife, but fifteen thousand was fucking insane just for a ring. And Steven knew that Valencia would be happy with whatever ring she would receive, but he felt a little bit guilty about the fact that he spent so little on his girlfriend. But then again, Steven and Valencia weren't a materialistic couple. They both showed their love in other ways than spending money on each other. Which was nice. It brought them even closer together.

"You're always looking for a fucking contest. At least I still got my morals," Steven quickly replied just to try and joke with Tommy. And while in Steven's mind it was all fun, light-hearted conversation, Tommy interpreted it a little differently. Tommy had said those exact same words when he first joined a band. He swore that he would never lose his true self if he ever got rich and famous. But as it turned out, he did. Tommy found himself at the top of the world, feeling immortal and powerful. And that was great, except he totally threw all his morals out the window. Tommy definitely didn't want that for the guy, especially now that Steven was planning to marry Valencia. Although, it was pretty much inevitable.

"For now. This lifestyle changes a person. Whether you like it or not, it will eventually happen to you too. Just promise me you won't drag Valencia down with you."

Steven found himself questioning what Tommy even meant by that. Steven would never in a million years do anything to harm Valencia. There was a slight pain in the blond's heart when he thought about losing himself completely and getting blinded by fame and fortune. Of course, at the moment, Steven could clearly make the promise of not letting fame get the better of him, but he still worried about what would happen later down the line. It was truly a terrifying concept to imagine.
