"You're majorly overreacting," Dani hissed as they laid upon the pedallo the following afternoon, her husband to her right and Rachel to her left.
"They abandoned us in the middle of butt fuck nowhere and expected us to get home whilst drunk in a foreign country." She exclaimed, sitting up and staring at Dani through her tinted sunglasses. "Typical Abi being selfish as ever. One look from George and she's all over him again."
"That is not fair." Rich said, looking at her sternly. "And you know that. Yes it was silly of them, but they have apologised and have made it up to us for by paying for our taxi, and the hire for this stupid thing, and for lunch. They have said sorry multiple times." He scalded and sat up, looking to Rachel and then to the other boat where George and Abi laid, deep in conversation with equally as soppy smiles on their faces.
"They've apologised, why are you suddenly getting all up on her back when you wanted to come and visit her in the first place?" Dani asked as she looked up to Rachel who was rustling through her bag for suncream.
"Just think she's changed so much recently, she isn't as fun anymore. I thought it was just stress and we would be able to help relax her but..." She dramatically sighed and started lathering herself up with sun cream.
"We have barely spoken to her, Rach. In three years she's going to have changed a lot, isn't she." She scalded and Rachel sighed, laying back down again and shutting her eyes. "Just... don't go pissing her off this week. We're here to cheer her up, not to upset her even more."
"Fine." Rachel snapped. "I'll leave it."
George and Abi laid in silence, Abi holding her book high above her head to shield her face from the hot sun whilst George tapped at his phone, looking out to sea from time to time, eyes trailing to the woman who laid beside him. Abi had noticed his wandering eye, giving him a smile and then looking back to her book, keen to finish the final chapter.
"Wanna have a swim in a bit?" Asked George, putting his phone down and sitting up, shielding his eyes with his hand, the sun taking him by surprise.
"Sounds good, should probably go and join the others in a bit too." Abi said, not taking her eyes from her book as she struggled to get through the last few pages. "Rachel is pissed, like, seriously pissed." She added as George huffed and looked to the other boat, waving at them. Dani and Rich waved back, Rachel going back to her book.
"I just don't get why," George sighed and looked back to Abi before looking out to the coastline they were a few hundred meters from. "It was her that invited me, got a random WhatsApp asking me if I wanted to go on a camping holiday with everyone, like the old times. I didn't realise it would just be the five of us." He admitted and Abi placed her book down, looking over to him with a frown. "I though Lizzie and Jack and everyone would be here too. Not that it matters, but it was just a little bit of a surprise when I met them at the airport." He chuckled and Abi sat up.
"So she directly asked you to come out with them, lied and didn't tell you it was to basically come and cheer me up, and now she's jealous she's not spending time with you." Abi said, looking over to the other vessel. "George, I think she's trying to get on your pants." Abi decided and George raised his eyebrows, looking over to Abi with a slight smirk.
"Well, safe to say she's not going to be the one getting in my pants any time soon." He murmured, the two making eye contact and then laughing. "I've not given her any kind of sign I'm interested, she's just heartbroken and wanting a rebound." He added before laying down again and laying on his side, looking to the other pedallo and then back to Abi. "And I would never do that kind of thing in front of you." He added, Abi smiling and picking up her book again.
