You stand at the airport with the present you got for your friend. His flight should be landing any minute and you should see him any second. Your heart races frantically while you wait.

It's only been since Thanksgiving since you've seen him but when he's away for work, a month feels like a year. Especially when you get to watch him on TV almost every Wednesday. He feels so close yet is a thousand miles away.

You always get excited when he decides to come home to Pennsylvania for a few days, and you're excited because you get to spend Christmas with him and his family.

You've known Adam before he started training to be a wrestler. The two of you loved wrestling, but Adam was always adamant in making sure he became a wrestler. You supported him, but you knew you could never be a wrestler. The grueling schedule, the hours of training, and it may not even pay off in the end.

It paid off for Adam though. Three time Ring of Honor World Champion, longest reigning NXT Champion, inaugural NXT North American Champion, former NXT Tag Team Champion, and he accolades exceed those titles that he's held. You're working on maybe becoming an announcer or backstage interviewer for NXT one day, kind of the background stuff.

The seconds continue to tick by, and you get more and more anxious to see Adam.

"Holy crap," you hear. "Is that Y/N L/N I see?"

Your eyes find the owner of the voice, and you spot Adam Cole walking over to you. His longtime girlfriend Britt Baker is with him. Both have a smile on their face.

You hug Adam then Britt before you say, "It's about damn time you got here. I got this for you and it's your choice to open it now or later."

Adam smiles at you and says, "I'll open it now. You always have the best presents."

Both you and Britt laugh as you hand Adam the medium sized, rectangular box. He unwraps the gift and opens the box inside the wrapping paper. His eyes widen.

"Y/N," he says. "You didn't."

You smile and say, "I did."

He pulls out the mini Mario hat lamp that you got him. It glows red, green, blue, white, or pink. It has a remote and everything.

Britt looks at the lamp and says, "That is the cutest present ever."

Adam tucks the lamp away and he says, "It's adorable. I love it. Thank you, Y/N."

"Is it going in the game room back down in Florida?" you ask, walking out to your car with Adam and Britt.

He says, "Definitely, but I'm definitely showing it off on my brother's stream later tonight. Everyone is gonna love it."

You laugh and help them get their things into the trunk of the car.

Everyone gets into the car and you say, "I didn't know you were flying with Adam or I would have brought your present too, Britt."

Britt says, "You didn't have to get me anything, Y/N."

"I wanted to," you say, driving to Adam's parents' house. "I think you'll love it too."

She laughs as you turn onto the highway.

Since you and Adam were 8 and 12, you've always spent Christmas at one of your houses. Since your parents passed away a few years ago, you've always spent Christmas with Adam at his house. His parents don't mind. His mom loves to cook so she doesn't mind cooking for an extra person.

You arrive to Adam's place and you help him and Britt get their things out.

"Adam! Y/N! Britt!" his mother says, greeting all three of you. "It's nice to see you all!"

Adam hugs his mother and kisses her cheek. "Hi, Mom," he says. "It's good to be home for a few days."

Britt hugs his mother and says, "Always a pleasure to see you, Mrs. Jenkins."

His mom says, "You as well, Britt."

You give Adam's mom a hug and say, "Thank you for the invite this year, Mrs. Jenkins. It's always nice to come back here."

Adam's mom says, "I know you're probably busy packing and everything for your move."

"You're moving?" Adam asks, almost shocked.

You look at him and say, "I'm moving to Orlando. I was going to tell you as part as your second Christmas present."

Britt says, "Oh, yay! I'm excited to see you more often. Why are you moving to Orlando?"

Rubbing the back of your neck, you say, "I have an interview to possibly work as an interviewer on the NXT brand. I know I always said that was my goal but I got a call last week saying that someone quit and I have a chance to get the job. I'm moving in case I get the job. If I don't then I'll find something in journalism down there."

Adam hugs you and says, "That's huge news, Y/N! Congratulations. We may be co-workers."

You giggle and say, "We might."

"Congratulations, Y/N," Britt says. "That's amazing. We could use more interviewers on AEW if you don't get the job at NXT. I am the face of the women's division so I can put my input in and it might help you."

Adam says, "Hey, don't bribe her. But as NXT's longest reigning champion, I also can put my input in and it might help you."

You laugh and say, "Relax. Let's just see what happens and go from there, okay?"

All of you laugh and get settled in for dinner.
