These people better be grateful.
Snow flew all around me as I rushed around my car. Luckily for me, the inside would keep the food nice and good for consumption. The bad news? The food needed to be warm.
I groaned as I slammed the hood shut. The engine wouldn't turn on, no matter what I tried. Is it the battery? Or did I somehow get water in the engine? The image of snow getting into the engine and melting played in my head, but I shook my head. That's what the hood was there for, right?
"At least the camp is less than a mile away, right?" I pulled out my phone to check- no signal. I groaned, the sound echoing in the clearing.
I thought over my options. I could either give up and wait in the car until someone drove by, or I could trek the rest of the way on foot and deliver the food.
Might as well, I thought, opening the car door. Snow rushed in behind me as I grabbed the food and my mask. This year could not get any worse, huh?
I shut the door and turned, beginning my trek down the road. I really hope these people like it.
It didn't take long for me to realize that I had no clue where I had gone. The road disappeared under the snow quickly, and I found myself shivering more and more. I pushed my mask on, hoping for some semblance of comfort.
One, two, three steps forward. Suddenly, the ground beneath me gave way. I think I screamed. I know I clutched the food close to me, for some reason. Who knew why?
The first thing I registered was the pain in my back from the hard landing. Then the warmth. And finally...
"Who are you?" I heard a shout.
I opened my eyes to see that I had landed on a balcony of sorts. Sun shined down on us, and in front of me stood a couple dressed in royal garb.
"Who are you?" I fired back, "Wait, where am I?"
The man looked like he was about to yell, but the woman stopped him, "Eugene, wait. I don't think they mean any harm."
"But-," Eugene said, only to be interrupted by the woman walking forward.
"I'm Rapunzel, you're in Corona," The woman introduced. "Ooh, what is that you have?"
I looked down in my arms to see the now-cold sweet potato souffle that I had carried, "Uh... food."
"See Eugene! They must be here for the feast! C'mon," Rapunzel took my hand, pulling me up.
My brain took a moment to catch up, but when it did I halted, "Wait, this isn't..." I tried to figure out how to phrase it, "This isn't my land."
"Ooh! You must be from one of the other kingdoms!" Rapunzel laced an arm in mine, leading me down the hall. "We'll have to talk all about it at dinner!"
What do I do?
