Hello! Apologies for the lack of updating, school sucks. So, here ya go! BTW, this is my first time writing a panic attack, I hope it's okay-- Ariel <3
Rowan stuffed an EMF meter into his backpack, along with a few other things. He knew that some of these things may not come in handy (the beartrap may have been a bit much), but he would rather be overprepared this time. He slung his backpack over his bony shoulder and waited for Tyler to finish gathering his things.
"Are you sure you don't want me to go alone?" He asked, looking up at Tyler, who was shoving a shiny pistol into a backpack, along with some extra ammunition.
"Rowan, we already told you," Tyler began, "we are not letting you go out there alone. You said it yourself, it's dangerous, why on earth would we send you off on your own?" he picked up his bag as well. "Besides, your determination to catch this thing has rubbed off on me," he said with a slight chuckle.
Rowan smiled to himself, he and Tyler made their way out of the motel room and down the hall to where Larissa and Nicholas were staying. Rowan knocked quickly on the door, and Nicholas yelled. "Come in!" Rowan opened the door; Larissa was pulling a sweatshirt over her head and Nicholas was draining the last bottle of liquor they had gotten from the minibar.
"Alright, I'm ready to go," Nicholas scooped up his bag and held the door open for the three of them, he slipped out after they had.
They all piled into Tyler's car, Tyler pulled out of the motel parking lot and sped in the direction of the woods.

The last bits of sunlight started to fade behind the massive number of trees. Rowan pulled out his EMF in hopes that he would be able to detect something, he had read somewhere that the Mothman put off some weird electromagnetic field, but then again, that could be fake.
He was careful as he walked, he didn't feel like tripping over another tree branch. Rowan heard something crunch behind him and whipped around, pistol in his hands.
"Don't shoot!" It was Larissa, she was holding her hands up. "It's just me!"
"Sorry," he put the gun back in his jeans, "After this, I never want to go into the woods again," he told her.
Larissa laughed melodically. Rowan found himself smiling, he had missed Larissa's company and he knew Larissa had missed his, but she would never admit that. In fact, she'd deny it, but he knew how she felt and that was enough for him.
The two waded through a puddle of mud. Rowan groaned as he shook off the mud from his shoes and kept walking. He heard the EMF start to beep and he looked down to see what the problem was. He smacked the side of the machine and it stopped beeping. "These damn things are so unreliable," Rowan muttered to himself. He kept walking, and the beeping started again.
Rowan stopped in his tracks, he heard a faint whooshing above his head. "Oh," Rowan said aloud. He couldn't bring himself to look up, he knew what he would be looking at, so why the hell couldn't he look at it? Rowan swallowed, he tilted his head upwards, and saw something flying towards him. Without even thinking. Rowan dove out the way.
The creature skidded on the ground, but flew back up in the air, ready to grab Rowan with its long talons. Rowan began scrambling, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He ran in the direction that he had entered the woods, hoping that he could lure Mothman out into somewhere with a little more visibility.
