The next morning I woke up at dawn. I put on some jean shorts and a tight black tanktop. I grabbed the letter off my desk and sneaked down the stairs and out the door. Now don't ask me how, but I knew exactly where Kahoni's house was. It's a small town, I know where everyone's house is!
I looked down at the envelope that had Kahoni scribbled in cursive on it before putting it in his mailbox. I was about to run back to my house, but I decided to enjoy the walk. The rising sun colored the clouds blue, pink, and purple. The ocean was calm and there was a nice breeze blowing. My flipflops and a seagull were the only things making noise on the otherwise silent road. It was a peaceful morning and for the first time I thought about the good things about Kahoni kissing me. It was blissful, the kiss, and it was what I always wanted. I found myself smiling as I thought about how it felt. For a moment I actually considered letting Kahoni explain whatever it was he wanted to explain about him and Savannah.
But then I thought about Savannah. I had kissed a boy with a girlfriend. I didn't like Savannah but if I thought about it, she was a human. And no human likes to be cheated on. I didn't want to be the person that Kahoni cheated on Savannah with or, possibly, the reason they break up.
I snuck back into my house and decided to just start making breakfast. I thought about Kahoni all morning and had to remake the waffles after I got distracted and burned them. When my family finally woke up I had almost finished. I just had to top off the waffles with syrup. Simply task right? Wrong. I started to think about Kahoni's gorgeous smile and drowned my brother's waffles.
"Hey!" my brother shouted.
"Oh right, "I said.
"Why are you so distracted lately?" my sister asked in an annoyed tone.
"I'm not distracted, "I said, "I was just thinking about something."
"I think she has a crush on someone, "my brother said, "maybe that stupid Kaho--or whatever."
"It's Kahoni, "I defended, "and he's actually really smart."
"She's defending him, "my sister gasped, "She is so in love."
"I am not!" I shouted.
"Who's in love?" my mother asked, suddenly in the kitchen.
"Danny, "my siblings said in unison.
"Really?" my mother asked.
"I am not!" I shouted again.
"Relax, "my mother said, "I'm not mad."
"Your not?" I asked cautiously.
"Of course not, "she said, "it's not like anyone would like you back."
My siblings snickered as my mother took her waffles and walk over to watch TV in the living room. My siblings reached to take their plates but I said, "I'd be careful what you say to me. I can always spit in your food." I took my toast and went to my room, smiling at my siblings reactions and their sudden lost in appetite.

Later that day I decided it was time to go see Brendan. I got out my front door without being noticed. I started walking down to Brendan's house at a quick pace, but I was still caught.
"Danny?" a voice behind me said.
"I'm sorry I just---" I began but stopped when I turned around and found Lani looking back at me.
"Sorry for what?" she asked.
"I thought you were my mom, "I said, "don't sneak up on me like that and just start talking!"
