The last thing Stevie wanted to do was ruin Adams party by starting something with Carol Ann, she had pretended that she didn’t know her when Lindsey introduced them to each other in the hallway, and since then all the two women had been doing was staring daggers at each other
Stevie got up and started clearing things and taking them into the kitchen, Lindsey thought his girlfriend was being helpful when she said she was going to give Stevie a hand, being helpful was the last thing on her mind
“Hi Stevie” Stevie turned around to face the woman
“What the hell are you doing here?” She bit back
“Well I was in a cafe last week when I looked across from me and Lindsey was sitting there! He looked at me and smiled so I got up and went over to speak to him, turns out poor Lindsey doesn’t have the foggiest about anything or anyone from his past” Carol Ann said proudly
“So you decided to show an interest in him”
“Oh I jumped at the chance!”
“Why?”
“Because Stevie my dear, he was going out with me and you stole him” she said bitterly
“Lindsey and I had briefly separated Carol Ann, you meant nothing to him!” All the other woman did was raise her eyebrow
“Yeah and now I do, and you mean nothing! Hurts don’t it?”
“Do you even love him?” Stevie asked to which Carol Ann laughed
“Oh god of course I don’t, hell I don’t even like him, I just don’t want you to have him”
“YOU BITCH! That’s my husband you’re talking about” Stevie was losing her patients with woman in front of her
“Yeah he might be your husband now, but he won’t be for long!” Carol Ann turned and started to leave the kitchen but not before she said something else, something that would push Stevie over the edge
“I forgot how amazing he was in bed though!”
“Excuse me? You’ve slept with him?” Stevie started to cry and Carol Ann loved it
“Every night...a couple of times a night actually, he can go for hours!”
Stevie completely lost it and ran at Carol Ann and practically dragged her to the floor
“I FUCKING HATE YOU! HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO ME?” Stevie was screaming and slapping and grabbing at the woman she was on the floor with, Carol Ann was giving back as good as she got
All of a sudden Christine and Lindsey came running into the kitchen because they had heard the commotion
“Stevie...what the hell are you doing” Lindsey said as he watched what was happening, Stevie just kept fighting
“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?” Lindsey shouted and dragged Stevie off of Carol Ann
“But Lindsey...” Stevie started
“No you’re fucking crazy!” Stevie stood wide eyed at him
“Baby, you okay?” he asked Carol Ann who was doing her best damsel in distress act
“No, I don’t feel so good, I don’t want to be in the house with this crazy woman any longer, let’s go home” Stevie noticed how she emphasised on the word ‘home’
“Yeah I think we had” Lindsey never said another word and turned and left with Carol Ann
Once they heard the door shut, Christine told Stevie she was going to send everyone home, so she explained what had happened and got them all to go and she had also put the kids to bed, knowing Stevie was in no fit state to do it
Once she walked back in Chris stood in front of Stevie with her arms crossed
“Care to explain what just went on?” Chris said tapping her foot
“She was taunting me Chris, saying that she doesn’t even like Lindsey she just doesn’t want me to have him because I ‘stole him from her’”
“Bullshit did you, she never stood a chance”
“She also said that she had forgotten how good Lindsey was in bed and she was being so vulgar Chris!” Stevie was starting to struggle with her words due to her fast flowing tears
“And why the hell did you start fighting with her? God Stevie your pregnant, you can’t just do that! There are two of you to consider now you know! ” Stevie felt like she was being told off by her mother
“Not for much longer” Stevie said quietly
“What do you mean?” Christine was afraid to hear the answer
“I have an appointment tomorrow”
“What like a check up?” Stevie just shook her head
“I’m going to have...I’m not keeping the baby Chris” Chris was gobsmacked to say the least
“No Stevie, please just think about this”
“I have, I can’t give birth and raise a child and love them when every time I would look at them it would remind me of him, and what some other woman has, I just can’t” Chris pulled Stevie into a tight hug and stroked the back of her head
“You want me to come with you?”
“No thank you, I need to do this alone” they stood there in silence and all Chris could wonder to herself was how it was possible for so much heartache to happen to one small woman

The following day Lindsey and Carol Ann had decided to go out into town, because she needed to ‘get her mind of yesterday’ which in Carol Ann language was ‘spend Lindsey’s money’
They walked past a record store and Lindsey decided that he wanted to go in, so he and Carol Ann walked in and started looking around; music was being played over the speakers from some records. Lindsey was flicking through the vinyls when he stopped because another record had been put on
The music sauntered through the shop and Lindsey couldn’t help but feel like he recognised it, he was getting images flash through his head of the accident, something that had never happened before
“Excuse me but what song is playing?” the young man behind the counter didn’t look like the sort to listen to Fleetwood Mac, so he obviously didn’t recognise Lindsey, he turned the sleeve over and gave Lindsey an answer
“It’s called Stephanie and it’s by Buckingham Nicks” Lindsey stepped back wide eyed
“Oh my god Steph...baby!” and he ran out the door
