(Y/N)'s POV

Sebastian and I make it to the hose in record time, neither of us out of breath in the slightest, adrenaline pumping through our bodies, solutions to the problem clouding our minds.

"Look at that, the new girl can keep up with me." Sebastian smirks, taking a glove off and setting it safely inside his coat away from the geyser of the hose.

"Why did you only take one off?" I question as he puts the ungloved hand on the hose, his body stopping as he turns and gives me a look.

"Why should I get my nice gloves dirty?" Is Sebastian's reply, his tone slicing me as if the answer were obvious.

My eyes narrow and my hands fall to my hips as he turns back to the hose.

"Why do you have to have such an inflated ego when you're just a servant?" I grumble under my breath, one side hoping he hears it, the other praying he didn't.

Thankfully he doesn't say anything as he unravels the wet hose end with his bare hand. The still gloved one holding the dry end.

Sebastian starts to hand me the hose. "I want you to go over there and start spewing the heart of the fire with the hose once it's turned on. If we can get it extinguished enough quickly, Young Master's dinner just might be on time tonight."

"Is that all you care about? His goddamn meals? I think this fire is a little more important than some young kid's dinner!" Anger surges through me, a large red tidal wave, red rimming my peripheral vision as the flames continue to engulf the property.

"I wouldn't say something so poorly about my, excuse me, our, Young Master. His meals mean more to him than you think (f/n)." His words are a half snarl, clearly offended I misjudged the Master's love for food.

I roll my eyes. "Well who cares, we got to deal with this fire and we have to deal with it now!"

"Then get a move on Miss (y/n). And where in the living burning hell did the other three go?!" He grumbles, clearly ticked off about the whole scenario, it having thrown off all his timely plans.

"Mister Sebastian!" A high-pitched female voice cuts through the sound of the engulfing flames, and I slightly turn, seeing a red-headed maid in glasses rushing out the door holding a large over filled bucket of water, its contents sloshing out over the brim, the other two servants dawning in her wake.

Sebastian grunts, his words spilling out, informally. "Mei-Rin! Get that over to where (y/n) is and get it in the flames! I'm turning on the hose now, Miss (y/n)! Are we close enough to get it?!"

I give him a strange look, hearing him for the first time today speak out of formality, but quickly get myself out of the strange daze as I feel the flames lick at the base of my neck, the heat making my short hairs rise. "Y-yes! I think we should be close enough! Get it on!"

His response is a quick nod as I hear the water beginning to rush through the hose, attempting to spurt from the end, aiming it at the flames. I hear Bardroy and Finnian coming up behind me, their grunts and sloshing water the only indication as I set my attention to the ever growing cascade of a rising phoenix of flames.

Behind me, a hyena screech is called out, along with, "Mister Sebastian! Watch out!"

The fire is dying down quickly enough that I sacrifice a second to look behind me to witness the maid, Mei-Rin I think Sebastian named her, trip on herself, her bucket fool of water dumping its contents all over Sebastian, soaking him from head to toe, excess water dripping from his end of the hose.

Hair and clothes plastered to his person, I see Sebastian lose all sense of calmness from his face, but amazingly he keeps his mouth shut, glaring at me with those fierce red eyes of his, which causes me to turn back to the flames, where Bardroy throws his water at the flames, the water licking at the flames, smoke rising with the elemental brawl. Finnian, on the other hand, misjudges his strength and the distance he is from the flames, and throws his too early, a waterfall soaking me in a matter of microseconds, making the hose look like a pathetic sprinkler in its midst.

Closing my eyes to blink the water away and spitting the extra that fell into my horrified mouth, I clench my grip tighter on the hose, attempting to keep my concentration focused on the finale of the problem, needing the flames to die and disperse before burning the whole mansion down.

I can't lose another job.

What if I lose this job because of this?

This is the first problem and I'm already failing.

I can't lose this job.

I refuse to.

I sigh, keeping those thoughts in the forefront of my mind as I take a soaking step forward, walking almost into the flames, and everyone’s horrified silence behind me like a hand pushing me forward.

The further my feet take me, the more the flames seem to taste the coldness of defeat. The hose, gaining momentum with the straightening length of itself, powers up even more, working overtime to keep its enemy down and smoking.

Sighing with the hiss of defeat, the flames finally disperse into the wet ground, the last puff of billowing smoke dispersing into the air, water now just gushing onto the dry grass, feeding them as they stand and cheer for food.

I stand there, soaking wet and my feet continuing to soak in the ever growing puddle of water at my feet with the hose hanging limply at my side, I give a small smile to no one.

Myself.

I ended the problem, with the help of my fellow servants. Well, more like with the help of Sebastian, but still, I did it with assistance.

Maybe I can make it and am cut out for this job. Not like I'm inexperienced with kid Masters.

But, if he ever raises a hand to me, I will call upon all hell to kill him.
