"So, when's your birthday? "

Karma paused playing on his phone and gazed up at Nagisa with surprise. The question popped out of nowhere and so he was stunned for a while before answering.

"I... Actually don't remember. " He replied. Nagisa frowned and stared at the blinking red head, skeptical.

"You don't remember? "

The red head shook his head.

"...Is it even possible to forget your own birthday..? " Nagisa murmured incredolously, yet Karma still heard it.

"Well, it's been long since I celebrated my birthday. So it's justifiable that I forgot. " With a shrug, he defended himself and turned his attention back on his phone's screen. The blue head stared at him for a few seconds, sighing lightly and shook his head before leaving.

The demon, though seemed like holding his phone, was actually paying attention to his partner. It was a surprise for him when Nagisa suddenly asked about his birthday, yet it felt pleasant in a way he couldn't describe. Unfortunately he wasn't lying when he said he couldn't remember it anymore.

It has been years since he celebrated his birthday. He never bothered about it before. It was just, after all, a day that marks your age. Nothing special to care about.

'It's a pity that I won't be able to celebrate it with Nagisa though... ' He absentmindedly thought and finally focused on his game.

After that, Karma didn't see Nagisa around in their home until late evening. He saw the blue head strolling pass the living room and up to the second floor with a frustrated and determined look in his eyes. Confused, he wanted to ask him about it but never got the chance after being distracted by Nagisa's cooking again.

He left aside that matter until the next day, when Nagisa hurriedly told him he's going out for some stuff he needed to do and that he left some food for lunch and dinner. It wasn't out of the norm for Nagisa to leave food for him, but until dinner? It meant that he will be out for the whole day. The blue head never left him alone for a whole day, mostly Karma would accompany him if he was to stay out for long.

As he munch on the pasta he heated, Karma pondered about Nagisa's obvious hasty behavior.

"It... He couldn't be angry about it, right?" He thought, but then shook his head. "Nah. He isn't the type to be angry at such mundane thing. " It's only a birthday, after all. And his, as a matter of fact, so no need for Nagisa to be frustrated.

9:00 o'clock pm. Yet Nagisa still wasn't home.

Karma was already getting worried. He already ate dinner an hour ago yet there's still no sign of Nagisa coming back. He's already thinking of following him but knew that he had to be patient.

"Though he seems small, I'm sure he can protect himself. " He mumbled and shuddered as he remembered that one time he saw Nagisa getting mad. Karma was so glad he wasn't the one being at the end of Nagisa's icy glares.

"Heh, isn't it more reasonable to worry about the people trying to hurt him then? " He mused out, trying to ignore the slight worry that he couldn't help but feel deep inside him. Nagisa... Will be fine right?

As if answering his thoughts, Karma's phone buzzed. Elated, he checked it only to be disappointed after reading Nagisa's text.

"I'll return later than expected. Don't worry about me and just rest. I have my keys so lock up the doors and windows. Good night, Karma. "
