"Why aren't you letting me pass?" Nagisa asked in a cold tone. The guard shivered from the winter air around the short boy.
"I-I'm sorry, Mr. Shiota. But the higher ups said t-that if you don't get yourself a d-demon then you shouldn't do this a-assignment..." The guard almost cursed himself for stuttering infront of a small frail-looking boy. Though even if others can see him, they won't blame him, for they know how terrifying this little cinnamon roll can be once angered.
"Tsk. So they really won't let me, huh." Nagisa's right eye twitched in annoyance and kept muttering to himself about how stupid the idea was. And after a minute, he turned back and left the front door guard.
The tall brown haired man leaned on the wall and slowly slid down, before letting out a sigh in relief.
"Oh God...that was scary..."
-
Nagisa is fuming. The other people (and demons) squirmed out of his way as he went to the office of the higher ups.
He stopped infront of the elevator and waited impatiently. Once the doors opened, those who were inside (who were chatting happily) widened their eyes in shock and immediately squeezed their way out to let the boy enter. Nagisa paid no attention and went straight inside, angrily pressing the top floor button. As the lift stopped, he immediately stepped out and barged inside the office of the so called-higher ups.
All six heads turned to the unexpected visitor.
"Sirs and Ma'ams, pardon my intrusion." Nagisa calmly stated and did a small curtsy. The three men's eyes widened and somehow felt a 'little' uneasy with the visit. The women, on the other hand, were quite happy to see the young cute agent visit them.
"Oh my, oh my, Nagisa! It's been long my dear!!" Therese, an angel with a high rank in heaven, gleamed and ran to the visitor to give him a bear hug. Nagisa flinched a little at the sudden contact but returned the gesture a 'bit' flustered.
"Nagisa honey, I'm glad you decided to visit us." Amanda, a demon from hell that wanted peace, smiled warmly. Nagisa nodded, still being tackled by the long white haired angel.
"Boy, do you need anything or is something bothering you?" Irina Jelavič, a blonde human agent, asked with a hint of worry. The angel was now back to their table and Nagisa was able to sit in front of them.
"Actually, I do have a concern." He stated firmly, and all of them were surprised with the sudden change of mood. The three men knew exactly what it was.
"I would take a wild guess, and it would be about the assignment, yes?" Angelo, a handsome silver haired angel, blurted and tilted his head to the side. The red haired demon beside him cursed in his mind for how cute the angel looked like.
Nagisa nodded in affirmation and stayed an eye contact to them without emotion. Soon, he turned his head when he heard a clank of cup hitting a plate. Tadaomi Karasuma, a serious human agent, sighed as he put his cup of coffee down.
"My dear, was there any problem with the task?" Amanda asked in concern. Sure, they know that the assignment was quite difficult but this was the first time Nagisa went straight to them to complain something.
"The task doesn't have any problem, but the requirement does." The young man said. And Karasuma immediately entered the conversation.
"You do know that having a demon beside you will help you, a lot. And I don't see any problem with having one."
"Yes sir, but still I think it's quite unnecessary for me to have one. I am quite confident that I'll be able to complete the assignment without one."
"Do you hate demons that much?" They all turned to the big redheaded man in surprise. The tone in his voice was low, sounding like a whisper but loud enough to know that he was serious. Amanda looked down on her lap and played with her thumbs.
Nagisa hated the fact that he just made the two per--demons that was like parents to him feel bad. He sighed and tried to smile in reassurance.
"Akaito sir, you do know that that's not true, right?" He said to Akaito who looked down with sadness on his face.
"But you don't have one. And you don't want to have one." The demon pouted a little making Karasuma roll his eyes and shook his head, Therese hide her mouth behind her palm, Angelo blink his eyes in amusement and surprise, Amanda squinting hers in accuse of trying to act cute in front of the teal haired boy, and our protagonist let out a another sigh.
'Now he's acting all childish.' His thoughts said.
"Sir, I know you know that the possibilities of summoning a demon depends on the summoner's personality, right?" He asked to reason out. Akaito didn't move, and Amanda already knew what the boy meant.
"Dear, what are Nagisa's personalities?" She asked in a confirming tone. Akaito bit his lip and blurted his answer in a low tone.
"Responsible, strong and composed."
"So, it's possible that Nagisa will get a very naughty demon to tame. And, I guess though hope not, a very sadistic and cunning one." Angelo pointed out. Nagisa smiled a bit when the others understood him.
"With those characteristics, he or she might only become a destruction to me." He explained.
'And I might snap and end up breaking his or her neck.' He added in his mind.
"But that also means that he's also powerful, right??" Akaito still pushed on, holding on his last hope for his little blueberry to get a demon partner.
"And you'll also need to tame him." Karasuma added, changing the opinions of the other higher ups. Nagisa frowned a little, knowing how this'll go.
"Oh yes, Nagisa dear. I think, even with those characteristics, you'll be able to wrap your hands around your partner!" The white haired angel squealed out, earning suspicious looks from the others.
"And you'll need his help for this assignment. Or her." Amanda shrugged. Nagisa slightly puffed his cheeks in disagreement. The six who sat in front of him stared, hoping for a positive reaction from him. After a long awkward and heavy silence, Nagisa, for who-knows-how-many-times, sighed and slumped his head in defeat.
"Ugh. Fine. I'll try at least to summon one." He mumbled, and he knew he just made them a little happy. Even the poker faced Karasuma.
"That's great! Just tell us if you need any help for the summoning, Nagisa~" Irina waved as the blueberry stood up and bowed, before turning to the door.
"Come back again anytime, little angel!" Angelo yelled a bit, waving at him with a creepy wide smile. Nagisa nodded and continued to exit the office.
Once he went out, he let a small smile paint his face. But then, he remembered something that made his smile turn to a sour frown.
'Now, I'll have to go in trouble for summoning a demon. How I wish he or she will be proper.'
His thoughts ran as he stepped inside the elevator and went to his office to tell his boss the 'seemingly' great news.
