The Bet

Beam's P.O.V.

I was at the bar waiting for my friends. I was sitting on a table away from everybody. It was a semi circle and the seats were high so no one can see me unless they approach the table. I sighed getting bored with waiting. I had made a deal with my friends. Today I wasn't gonna hook up with any girl. It was stupid but last month I brought in some trouble with at least four fights happening because of jealous boyfriends. It's not my faults their girlfriends weren't loyal to them. The girls always approached me not the other way around. Phana and Kit had to help me which made them mad. So for all their troubles I agreed not to hook up with anyone so we could all have some peace. The sad part is that I'm bored as fuck. I was contemplating leaving but Kit and Phana said they were close.

As I was waiting for them I heard a loud commotion on the table next to mine. I quickly heard some familiar names. It was the engineering gang. Loud as always I thought. I contemplated joining them but I wasn't in the mood today. I looked at my phone again. If they aren't here in the next ten minutes I'm leaving. As I was finishing my beer I heard a conversation that picked my interest. Today I'm glad the engineering gang talks loudly because they are entertaining me. Right now they were teasing Forth.

"You are the only one of us who has never had a real relationship, there's definitely something wrong with you." Said Park and I wanted to laugh. Amongst all of our friends he and I were the only ones who never committed to a relationship.

"It's because I don't want to. I could have a relationship with anyone I want." Forth replied cockily and I rolled my eyes.

"You are just saying that. Sure you can get them to bed for one night. But for a relationship? forget it not possible." Said Lam this time.

"Yeah right name one person whoever you want and I'll make them fall in love with me in a month." said Forth.

"It should be someone as heartless as him. Someone who doesn't do relationship either. Is there a person who is as much as an asshole as Forth?" Continued Lam thinking out loud and now I was very interested in the conversation.

"I know! I have one!" Said Park and I was listening attentively to the conversation.

"Who?" Both Forth and Lam said at the same time.

"Beam." Said Park and I choked on my drink. There was a silence for a while before Lam spoke up.

"Beam? I mean I get it he's very similar to Forth they are both players but that's impossible. Forth will never be able to get Beam. Starting with the fact that he's not gay he is way out of Forth's league." Said Lam and I was relieved. It's true though I will never be with another man.

"You think so? I'd say if there's anyone who can tame Beam it could be Forth. Two assholes together seems like a pretty good idea to me." Said Park.

"Nah I don't think so Beam would never fall for Forth's charm. He could chase him all he wants Beam is used to rejecting everyone. Girls literally throw themselves at him. Who could manage to beat that? What else is there to do to capture the Casanova's heart?" Wondered Lam out loud. Forth who had been silent all this time finally spoke.

"You know what I am always up for a challenge. I did say anyone and I bet I can make even the Casanova fall for my charm in a month. Beam doesn't have a chance against me. I want double if I can make him cry when I leave him at the end of the month." Said Forth and I scoffed. Is he serious? I at least thought we were friends. Up to this point I wasn't even mad they weren't saying anything that's not true. But now? I am furious.

"How are you going to do that?" Asked Park.

"I don't think that's a good idea Forth that's taking it too far. He's our friend." Said Lam.

"Come on you're the one who said he's heartless. Now you are saying he's capable of growing a heart and fall for me?" Asked Forth.

"I just don't think it's a good idea playing with one of our friends." Said Lam.

"He's betting too high it's Beam we are talking about there's nothing to worry about. Now tell us what's is your all so mighty plan." Said Park and I was listening attentively. If he wants to play like this then let's do it. We will see who's surprised at the end.

"Well you said it, girls always chase him and throw themselves at him. But I have an advantage I am his friend right? so I just need to get closer to him. I'll just get on a fight or something I will pretend to be hurt and let him care for me. Then I will take him out on a date to show my appreciation and we will see from there." Said Forth confidently.

"Ohhh that's good. I'll beat you up tomorrow if there's no one to fight." Volunteered Park.

"Aren't you eager to do that." Said Forth.

"Of course." Said Park.

"So you are really doing this?" Asked Lam.

"Yeah so start saving money because I plan to win." Said Forth.

After that they changed the topic of the conversation. So this is how it's going to be huh? Then I'll play along Forth. Let's see who will end up falling in love in the end. I will be the best dang thing that has happened to you for a month and then I'll crush you. I stood up from my table and paid for my drinks. As I was about to walk out Phana and Kit came through the door.

"About damn time." I said annoyed.

"Sorry there was a lot of traffic." Said Phana.

"It's ok I'm already leaving though I am bored." I said and they nodded.

"Well I guess the two of us will stay for a while." Said Phana looking at Kit who nodded. I bid my goodbyes leaving towards my apartment.
