All black. Stabbing pain. Something brushing his arm, his face, his lips. Trey couldnt see anything. His eyes were closed, but he wasnt sleeping, neither could he wake up. Sometimes, when he forced himself enough, ignoring the agonising pain in his back, he could make his eyelids flicker open, just for a moment, and he would catch a glimpse of the sky. It was bordered by trees, and so bright that he could see the outline of it after his eyelide had quickly closed. And then he would fade away, with no thoughts or dreams, just flying into darkness. Soon, after what seemed like years, he could open his eyes for more than a few seconds. The sky was gone. Instead, he was under a roof made of logs, with his back throbbing and people talking next to him. He tried to turn his head, to see who they were, but he couldnt. He had no feeling in his neck, and horrible shots of pain burst down his back, making him cry out, and letting the darkness overtake him once more.

Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, the darkness let go. Trey could move his eyes. Slowly, he opened his eyes.  He was under the same log roof, with someone rubbing something cold onto his back. He tried to twist his neck, and was amazed that he could feel it and move it, though its movements were slow and sluggish. He moved his head to the side, and found himself face to face with a woman

She had copper-y brown hair, with green eyes that looked at him, suprised and panicked. She had smooth, fair skin with slight lines around her cheeks, like someone who has laughed and cried alot in their life. But this was all that Trey say of her, because a second after he turned to face her, she whisked around and fled out of the tent with a whirl of her green coat.

He heard someone yell, and heard footsteps coming towards his tent. And then a familiar face, flustered with anger and excercise, ran into his tent. It was a girl, much younger than the woman, with brown hair and dark eyes, holding a knife. She saw Trey, and then her eyes narrowed with anger. She advanced towards him, weilding the knife and getting ready to attack. And it was then that Trey saw a small spot of blood under her ribcage, and it was then that he remembered her name. And as she reached his bed and raised her knife, Trey gasped out her name. "Mia!"
