Mia landed softly and silently, and quickly looked around for a burglar alarm. There wasn't one. Mia swiftly walked around the room, looking through drawers and finding a piggy bank. She tossed it out the window to Trey, who caught it, and then walked out of the room, looking for more money. he walked into a kitchen, and had a sudden thought. She opened the fridge, and voila! All the food she could ever need. But she couldn't take much. They would only be able to eat it on the way home. She grabbed a lump of cheese and 2 slices of bread, the walked into the next room. She new she had hit the jackpot right away, when she saw a wallet lying on the bed, and an expensive looking piece of jewelery on the table.
The crunching of gravel startled her. A car was pulling into the driveway! She quickly snatched the wallet and the jewelery, and then ran back to the upstairs window as she hears a key turning in a lock. Clutching the precious items, she crouched onto the windowsill as the front door opened.
Quickly, Mia dropped out of the window, landing with a hard THUD on the grass. She heard the owners of the house coming up to the window, but she and Trey were too quick, dashing out of the garden before the people noticed that anything was gone.
As they approached their homes door, Trey and Mia pulled out the money they had collected. Trey knocked the code ; once, twice, 5 times, and the door opened, revealing Chase. He stood in the doorway, blocking the way in, and held out his hand.
Trey and Mia piled their stolen possessions into his hand, and he closed it into a fist, satisfied. Chase stood aside, and Trey and Mia walked into the warmth of their home.
As dinner was served, Chase stood up, and waited for silence. "I was watching all of you today" he announced, looking around at his gang of thieves "and I'm pleased with all of your progress. Except.." he trailed off, and his gaze lingered on Jake, who looked worried. They finished dinner in silence, with a lot of nervous glances at Jake.
Trey was worried. what was wrong with Jake? He was one of the best thieves in the group.
As they were walking to their rooms, Trey asked "Jake. Is everything ok?"
Jake nodded and said "yeah" and then opened the door to their room.
They lay down in their beds, and slowly went to sleep.
Trey woke to the sound of footsteps. It was still dark, about midnight, and everyone was asleep. Who could it be?
Their door slowly creaked open, and Trey tensed, ready to spring out of bed as he saw the attackers face.
It was Chase! Chase slowly walked into the room, hidden by the shadows. He approached Jake and took something from behind his back. A knife.
Swiftly, Chase knelt over Jake, and brought the knife to his throat.
A wave of terror washed over Trey, and his heart was screaming at him to jump out of bed and tackle Chase. But he couldnt. Chase was stronger and he had a knife.
Trey watched in horror as Chase breathed in loudly, then pressed the knife into Jakes throat. Blood gushed out, flowing over Chases hands as he drew the knife in a straight line deep through Jakes neck.
Jake had woken, and was twitching, trying to move his hands to cover the flow of blood. But it was too late.
Jake gave a final, tiny jerk, sighed his last breath, and lay still, the flow of blood stopping.
Trey was frozen in shock. Jake. He's gone. My best friend.
Chase picked up a big sack he had brought into the room and slid Jakes lifeless body into it, wincing as dead flesh touched his skin.
He tied the bag closed, then dragged the body from the room, like Jake was just a peice of meat, killed without pity, and sold at the butchers shop.
